GTA hood vs. regular Trans Am hood

Had a friend tell me the other day that GTA hoods are made of aluminum. Just wondering if Trans AM hoods are also aluminum because i have to replace mine and there is one from an 87 T/A available.

You see, this is what I'm talking about, lol. It would've been just as easy to say something like, "to my knowledge, they're made of steel. My buddy's and the other 3 I've seen were also steel."

We really need more "moderation" on this site, lol. It's not a free speech forum, it's someone's personal website.

All factory GTA hoods and Trans-AM hoods from 1985-1992 are steel. They are all the same hood.

It's steel, and this board is moderated on a regular basis.

Hey, I see you've got the infamous LB9 HO. Have you seen the topic and debate about that on the history boards?

And regarding your notchback, I was at a junkyard a few weeks ago, and I saw one, a bit different though, like an aftermarket add-on with fastback-style side panels. Other than being in a junkyard for who knows how long, it was in fine shape, no dents, only in need of paint. Ever see or hear about anything like that?

Thanks, I didn't think they were, but he is going to school for autobody so I didn't question him too much. It in a way seemed like it could be true because my T/A hood seems alot lighter than the one on my Camaro.

Only the Firehawks got an aluminum hood.. IIRC they sold a few that are kickin arround.. You'll see one for sale every so often.. Like once every few years.
