93-96 Console
Hello I just got my 1996 Firebird Auto Console in today and began the swap into my 1987 Bird also a Auto and the probloms started right away, so anyone who has done this swap, please help me.
I did search but only found alot of pics and not much help, my problom seems to be that the shifter is poping the center part of my console up and out and not letting it lay flat so anyone with any bit of help would be great, thanks

shifter needs to be relocated and lowered. there is a lot of modding to get the auto consoles to fit right. Everyone else uses the manual consoles since it is a direct bolt in for autos and manuals.
I gave up trying to install the auto plate and just went with the manual.

WOW deffintly not what I wanted to hear, do you know anyone who has done it with my console? or what about just cutting the plastic divider and placing the old shifter boot in there, think it would work, just wouldn't have the shift indicater.

The problem is the rail that the shifter rides on is too high for that console.
There are a couple of members here that have done it and had semi-detailed instructions. I just thought it was too much work and abandoned it.

Yea
Yeah I deffintly understand you I spent atlest 4 hours today on it and looks the same as when I started. Do you know what I mean tho by removing the shift indicater bar and the thin plastic divider and then just attatching the leather 3rd gen shift boot underneth? Would that work you think ?

Yeah I wish it was that easy, if I but it up I'll be stuck so I dunno what to do now, would you know how to relocate your shifter to make it fit? If so is it difficult ?
