Fog Light Switch?

Can someone post a pic of the factory fog light switch/panel. I have aftermarket foglights I just don't want to use that ghetto switch but I have never seen the stock switchgear. All my friends have are formulas (87-89's). Thanks in advance! And is it a direct swap into my 87?

If the pic dont work as i cant recall how its done correct right now just copy the web addy and its the small switch under the headlight switch sqaur part not much to it really.

Hope this helps somewhat sorry for the not so close up pic, my digital cam is packed away for my trip I am fixing to leav on or I would have taken you a lot better of one.

I am not sure on the plug and play part. I know all of my fiero's had all the plug's there just had to add the switch's to them

But the Fog/driving light part on the FireBird is cut out and sit's into the panel so you will either have to mod or cut or replace that part to install the switch I belive (might already be done on the Non Fog light cars maybe its just a dummy cover)

Good luck with it man

Here's one I installed in my Formula.

The short lower dash trim piece comes off easily(held in place by two screws underneath), and the delete plate is screwed into the backside of that trim piece. Unscrew the delete plate, and the switch screws right back in its place. And if you've got the harness with the switch, it's got the ground wire and the fuse panel wire(it'll light up with the instruments).

I never saw any wiring installed for the fog lights, but I wasn't looking for any since I didn't install any fog lights(I just didn't like the switch delete). But since the fog light relay doesn't come on the car, I doubt the wiring is there either.

So no worries, it's very simple, and it'll look much better than the delete plate or some toggle switch, IMO.

I used a stock rear window defogger switch, and rewired it to become my fog lamp switch. I'll post pics and schematics later, after I find them again. The schematics are literally on a napkin in my desk at work. I have yet to make a new overlay for the buttons, so it still looks like a rear defogger switch...

You might try one of the now-forbidden former sponsors, thirdgen resource(aka, fbodymotorsports). They list new fog lamp switches. The girls on the phone are nice, but service can be questionable, so be patient and specific.

You might also try Tom at www.houseofcamaro.com He's usually got used switches. Dave at IROCZDAVE's website might also have some used ones.

But the best place to find one is probably a junkyard. Not only can you get a switch(though they aren't always in good shape), but you can also pull the switch's wiring harness and relay too.

Since the stock fog lamp switches are harder to come by, I chose a stock rear defogger switch, and someday I'll re-do the graphics on the buttons...

The schematic is still at work, so I won't have access to it until Tuesday...

wiring for stock foglight switch -85-89

really useful thread.

I've retro-fitted fog lights and managed to get the stock switch to work (fog lights illuminate correctly) by testing with a multimeter the readings from the defogger but I can't get the indicator lamp or background lamp to work (so I might have misjudged)

I know this is a lot to ask, but can someone do me a favour and look at the wiring in their car and/or test the current?

I don't have a stock connector for back of switch, but according to wiring diagrams I found on this site, the following 3 wires contol the switch:

brown (power in)
black (earth)
purple (switch on -power out)

There are 5 connectors for the switch. I'm assuming the top 2 (on their own) are for the back illumination (but i can't get this to work, maybe the bulb is shot)

can someone tell me what order the wires are connected? (assuming the coloured wires are as above looking at the back of the switch unit, with it the correct way up or send me a photo of the back of the unit with the wires connected? (even better!!!)

many thanks!
Andrew
