I think there more expensive because of the name written on the front fo the box it comes in, I would honestly expect B&M to cost more.

I've owned a b7M ripper shifter and a Hurst comp shiftr and the B&M was much better. Have yet to try a pro 5.0 though.

One doesn't put a ratchet shifte on a 5 speed, it's impossible.

Your here because you clicked on the thread title and and you are a couple of apples short of an orange tree judging by your post.

It was the freaky weather in FL that scrambled his brain

As far as shifters for autos, I can't stand my friend's B&M mega shifter. Feels like it's going to fall apart in my hands because movement is so sloppy. My Hurst quarter stick has a nice solid feel to it and positive shifts.

why not keep the stock shifter? Rem a Factory piece fits better then a aftermarket piece. Honestly I hate my bros Megashifter. It sucks. Keep the stock shifter (jmo)

What do these shifters do that the stock on doesn't? Do they allow for full throttle upshifts before the stock set rpm of 4500, or whatever your car usually shift's at?

I'll get some tomorrow, all the ones I have are pretty old.

For one, stock shifters allow you the risk of damaging things easier like accidentally shifting into neutral or reverse while you're going down the road. With a lot of aftermarket shifters, they have reverse lockouts where you have to flip another lever to go past neutral or pull up a handle. Going through the gears with mine is just a simple push forward for 1-2 shift then a squeeze of the handle for the 2-3 shift with no risk of going into neutral. It locks out going past 3rd till I release the handle.

An aftermarket shifter is not going to change your stock shift points or the full throttle upshift, that's all controlled in the transmission. Only way you'll be able to shift at higher rpms is if you manually shift or set up the transmission differently. You can find out about the full throttle upshift on the transmission board too.

Haven't tried any of their shifters but I've bought other Hurst products and been very very unhappy. Retarded instructions and bolt holes didnt even line up, had to drill.

Here's the pics finally. Far from a easy direct bolt in and I could have done it better. The shifter is sitting on a 2 inch block of aluminum that is bolted to the stock mounting plate. The top is a black anodized plate cut out on a CNC mill. Think if I were to angle the block back a little and maybe lower it, there wouldn't be so much of the top opened up, just a slot for the reverse lever and shifter itself. Really like the feel of it over the stock shifter, nice and solid. And yes, the button is being used for the nitrous unit

Crazy - What product did you get? I've always gotten solid stuff from Hurst and have been extremely pleased with all of them. I have their Billet-Plus shifter in my Camaro and it's excellent!

It was the torque arm relocation kit for retrofitting TH350's or TH400's (since they dont have a torque arm mount on those trannys). I really couldnt believe the product was such low quality, especially since I had not heard anything bad about Hurst before. It didnt even fit, not even close. Hopefully they have a completely different team of people working on the shifters that can output quality products (sounds like thats the case).
