90-92 dash in an 86?
I did a search, but I'm having trouble finding anything. I have an 86 IROC that I'm building a drivetrain for. I am going to use a harness from a newer speed density IROC with a 730 ECM to run whatever I build.
What dash parts can I re-use to install the newer 90-92 style setup into the car? I plan to swap out the window and door switches and all the other subtle things too so that it's all done in yellow, but I also plan to re-use my 86 console and anything else I can. I'll probably swap in all the interior harnesses from the donor car as well, so that shouldn't pose a problem with wiring for the dash.

hum, I know a guy that did it, (he bought the 92 dash from me)
but I am unsure of what all he had to do, I gave him all the air ducting and all the mounts and the underdash panels cause I think they were different.
He didnt buy the underash harness from me so I am unsure if the wiring was changed. I would think it would be similar with the exception of the VSS wiring ?
your going to use the 90-92 gauges ?
isnt that speedo ran by a speed sensor mounted on trans, if that is the fact you will need to find a VSS. (get that off your donor car)
and the 86 is a mechanical one I believe.
dont know if that info is much help.............................

Hay RocVert! That was me....lol I got it in with no trouble at all. The 4 major mounting points on the 4 corners did not match up at all. On the bottom 2 mounting points you can just drill new holes but the top you need to fab a bracket to mount to. As for the wiring here is the link that I used when I did all of that with my old 85 dash so the wiring was all done just had to pop the dash in https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=186037 I like it much better then the old style!

Thanks for the help guys. I'm installing a way more modern drivetrain at the same time, so I won't have a cable to drive the speedo anyways...thats part of my driving force behind the interior conversion.
