On the directions I've seen, people are able to pull off the needles, near the base, with a fork. But, even if you do get one off and back on sucessfully, it's going to be hard to line it up perfectly perfect. 'Cept that it's the speedo which stays at zero when not in motion, it will still be a little tough.

um did you not read it dude? i already broke it...telling me how to take it off now isn't gonna help me much...i snapped the tiny little metal pin that conects the needle to the cluster unit..i got the pin out of the needle part but it looks like its broke off too close to the cluster part and i really have no way of taking that part of the pin out...any1 got any suggestions?

From what I've read on the boards thats "unrepairable" but that doesnt mean you couldnt figure something out? I would play with your other one and see if you cant get the pin that the needle stick onto to pull out somehow.. just a thought, sorry I'm sure that totally sucks I've been through similar situations

Are you saying you broke off the needle (plastic) part, or the actual metal part that goes on the shaft? I'm guessing you broke the plastic, right at the start of the needle huh? Well you should be able to pry off the circle of the broken one, pry off the needle of the 85, and put it on the 145. I *think*. And if it's a dual needled '85 then you can break off one of the needles. That's what I did and you can't even tell there was one there.

So wait... is it the plastic or the metal that broke?
LOL... you need to relax man. No need to get mad at everyone.
Personally, I think you're pretty much out of luck unless you can find just the speedometer unit itself somewhere instead of the whole cluster.
