question about body

ok so i bought my car, 1984 irocz z28, and the front clip and rear bumper are both plastic/fiber glass, my question is, were they both origanally plastic/fiberglass or were they aluminum/steel?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm quite sure the IROC was introduced in 85.

the plastic front clip and bumper cover is factory. I think most 2nd, all 3rd and 4th gens have plastic or fiberglass front and rear bumpers.

The front and rear bumper covers are plastic from the factory.

I hope the guy you bought it from didn't jack up the price with those fake IROC badges.

If you buy new bumpers they are just like the old ones, plastic, or to be more correct they are a urithaine type of plastic very flexable but rigid at the same time.

Since you do have an '84, you may have a rare option though. All the bumpers 82-92 were plastic, but only a few (by comparison, reality there were thousand's) came with a stock fiberglass hood from 82-84 only. You may have that.
Yeah, and there is no '84 iroc. You probably have a z28 so no sweat there, the z is a great machine as well
And one cool thing about the thirdgen (as well as any gen really) is that you can clone your car into any other model pretty easily, as almost all parts are compatible 82-92. So you could restore it as an Iroc if you really want an Iroc. Just don't let the "stock ****'s" come tell you not to clone, or not to put new gfx on an older car, or what have you

it was 2 camaros for 1200 but i only wanted the one, due to no title and total beater/parts car, hood is sweet i will get pics up and also the rims are off a vette, odd.... and he got rear ended and slammed in the front so i have bent bumper and front clip, hence need new front clip and was wondering if it was aluminum stock or plastic cuz its warped and it pisses me off, also what is the difference from an iroc and a z28 or ss? is the iroc like after market such as saleen?

the irocz was basically the same thing as a Z28. just GM had the Iroc license for a few years (Internation Race of Champions) It isnt aftermarket such as saleen or 98-02 SS. Just a package that was offered from factory.

Fenders are metal. Nose is polyurethane. Which they started using in 78 for camaros i believe.

Get some pics up, what engine you got?

Hello - Stock **** here (where's Jim85IROC when you need him? Heh.) Buy an IROC if you want an IROC. Seriously. You might be able to clone your Z so that nobody knows, but you'll always know that you don't have a true IROC.

As was previously mentioned, though, the Z28 is a sweet machine. Even though I have an IROC, 'Z28' just sounds meaner (IMHO)

do you have your rpo codes in the glove box hatch door?

just because that will tell what the car really is. post up a pic i have a new gm 84 front nose that i got wrong for my 85 and got stuck with if you need one we could talk.

what month was you car produced? look on the door tag. gotta rememebr new model year alwasy comes out by the10th month so 10/84 is an 85 style so it may be an iroc.....but you need your rpos to be sure. a pic of the nose will tel for sure if it an 84 it had a diffrent nose design from 84 - 85

Be happy you have a thirdgen. All I hear from most of my friends is "I wish I had a thirdgen but the wife won't let me live out my dream/ says we need a minivan"!

KEVIN L., :yourock:

Like you said, be happy that you have a 3rd! My wife really isn't into the car scene (she's one of those econobox people) but she finally got tired of my bitching and whining about not having an IROC, so she bought me one

It only took 6 months of bitching and whining
