Hinged Panel??????
Does anyone know where I could get a hinged panel with speaks, and lock that would cover the big valley in the back of the car, or do i have to custom make one? I have seen them on thirdgens before, but i never seen where to buy one.
Somebody step up and beat me down like a Hyundai owner if I'm wrong, but this hinged cover you speak of sounds suspiciously like what came with Bose-equipped 3rd gens. That piece is likely past extinct, but there's no reason why you can't make your own.

You can still find that "hinged cover" at a junk yard, i actually found one a few weeks ago and now im kicking myself for not pulling it out. Oh well. Search Ebay and some of the 3rd gen sites, some might still sell used covers.

My car came with the one without the speaker holes, makes things look so much better in the back.

I have a few w/o speakers, but they are made for the 82-84, maybe 85 too? w/o the pull down hatch motor. The rear plastic has a bigger hump in the later 3rd gens. Its rear to see the bose one, but yes that was what it was. I'm gonna ****** it if I ever see one! I hope to find the hindge cover for a later model so I can put it on.

I put one in too, without power pulldown or speakers.
Hardest part is lining it up properly so you put it at the right height. I think most people screw it into the body, but I didn't like that idea because of potential rust and the gas tank underneath. I fabricated weld on brackets like the stock cars and put bolts in the brackets.
