Center Caps ?

Where can i find center caps for an 89 formula wheel (20 slot)

I've seen black ones with the firebird emblem, but i am looking for what i believe was originally on the car. A silver cap with some typ of writing on the center. the original owner painted them black.

does anyone know what that center writing was...ws6?

'WS6' sounds familiar, but I can't be certain of that. I'd check your local Pontiac dealer. They'll be expensive, but they'll be worth it; I picked up 4 new 'IROC-Z' center caps from my dealer at $30 each, but I didn't mind too much because they're brand-new NOS factory pieces.

Hey, 89,

Were those the caps only or did they come with the wheel inserts?

James,

My rims are the 16" N96 aluminum rims, which don't have center caps; they were just the inserts. Thanks for pointing that out because it just occurred to me that I was using 'inserts' and 'center caps' interchangeably

They say "Pontiac Performance Suspension" around the outside ring, then "WS6" in the middle.

Any GM dealer, or a used hubcap dealer would be your best bet. The bird caps are usually $13 each, and the emblems are another $7-10 each.

Be careful if you get the aftermarket caps. They usually dont have metal tabs only plastic tabs and the center is not the embossed logo, it's sometimes just a sticker that fades in the sun pretty quick. I bought a set from a company on the internet for $50 and thats how they came. Their not bad (FOR THE MONEY), just not nearly as good as NOS.

All the GM ones I've seen have plastic tabs to retain them...not too sure what you're talking about here.

The caps that came off of my 84 had a metal rim where it attaches to the wheel. The tabs that protruded from the cap were part of the rim and attached to the wheel. The aftermarket set that I bought did not have the metal rim, just plastic tabs that were part of the molding.

You can try e-bay, since it seems that the custom there is to sell everything seperate.

Just an FYI all Formulas from 1988 -1992 came standard with those wheels, they center caps are similar to those found on other firebird wheels except they are the only ones (to my knowledge) that were silver instead of black.

The part number you are looking for is 10052353

Hope that helps.

BTY, yes that is a new one in the package and NO it is not for sale, sorry.

IF you want more info on Formulas you may visit my site www.3rdgenformula.com

I found some great center caps for my 88 Firebird. They are black .. hard plastic, or whatever that is. They came with the three holes in them to put the decal in. You can buy the decal from the dealer but they charge outrageous prices. I was told in Canada it was going to cost me about $75.00 each for the cap and center.

Bought 5 from this place. WIth exchange, and courier shipping, the whole bill was less than $50.00 canadian

I will go this route any day. Firebird center caps seem to be a novelty to steal. At least this doesn't cost as much to replace them, and without the firebird decal in the center, they stayed on my car a lot longer.
