Idea for interior
My interior is basically trashed, and while I slowly aquiring parts for the engine, I figure it is time to start on the interior. I have always liked flashier interiors, and I am thinking of these ideas for it. I think I am going to go either all black interior or Black and Charcoal Gray. (I am going to have a silver/Gunmetal exterior)
1) I plan on painting the plastics black. What Paint would be good for this? I think I remember reading on here about sem?? paint?
2) Black Carpet....and black head liner. I have a t-top car so I was thinking of making a sunshade thing like on the 4th gens.. But I was thinking of making so sort or design under the headliner...(using cut foam...) and continuing the design on the sun shades....
3) recovering the door panels, or have a set made in black.
4)no rear seat (maybe, if I can make something that looks good to fill that spot...maybe an amp rack)....for the front seats, either corbeau or just a set of PMD seat covers...(will the seat covers from hawks fit 4th gen seats?)
5) I am rather into car audio...so I think I am going to mold a set of kick panels out of fiberglass, and I plan on replacing the fabric spot on the sail panels with fiber glass for the speakers...
i know this sounds like alot...do you guys think this would look good? Do you have any other suggestions? will this be *****? I dont know..all of these ideas just kinda popped into my head..
Thanks

Sounds good to me, for the pait there are paints made just for that purpose or something like krylon fusion so it dosent just chip off. I personally like a mix of black and grey like black carpet and headliner but grey panels. For your other question, hawks makes 4th gen covers http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/seat_covers
also if you go all black make sure to get black seatbelts

do NOT use krylon fusion everbody told me that it was good on plastic so i got some and painted my 84 berlinetta interior black and it scraped off in places just re-installing it. get the sem paint or dupicolor interior paint. ive used dupicolor and its alot better than krylon fusion.
To paint with SEM:
1) Clean part very well with dawn or another degreasing liquid soap.
2) Spray SEM's "Plastic Prep" to finish removing all foreign deposits, greases etc.
3) Spray SEM's "Plastic Bonding Agent" which helps the SEM to stick
4) Color Coat. Make sure you use LIGHT COATS!!! The finish comes out much better when you use light coats.
i personally would use sem, but if you are looking for something quick that doesn't require alot of steps than dupicolor is good too.

Personally I've always wondered why no one ever tints their t-top glass. On a gunmetal gray car w/ that silver tint, that would blend pretty well, and I think it would look snazzy inside the car too
Personally I'm a big fan of the 4th gen interior swap. Even just a center console makes a world of a difference on the feel of the interior.

I am planning on doing the 4th gen console swap...but I really dont want to get that into the dash...but when you say tint the ttops, you mean with the silver tint? I never thought of that.....sounds like a good idea...

I also used the Duplicolor paint and liked the results. I used gloss though because the sem was to dull for me. I used the Krylon in a diff car and it chipped very easily. Wasn't happy about it.

I live reall close to hillsborough, just down amwell road heading toward New Brunswick. I acctually used to work at the Radio Shack in Nelsons Corner...
I saw this cool vinyl and plastic dye at a swap meet today. Here is the link www.parasolinc.com It works better than anything that I have seen do so far and you can actually airbrush flames or another graphic over top of it. Still shows the grain of the items original part.
Very neat

Oh wow, you live like right next to me then, like 5 miles tops. I live kinda down Woods Rd. I think I might know exactly which house is yours. Is your house actually on Amwell towards New Brunswick, by Colonia Park? Because there is a house right on Amwell and there are a bunch of cars in the driveway and I remember always seeing a formula there. By the way, in high school I worked at the Shoprite in nelson's corner for 3 years, haha. Its a small world after all....
