rear view mirror

would anybody recommend an adhesive to glue my rear view mirror button to my windshield. every single adhesive i have tried doesn't work for s@#$. i let it dry completly, put my mirror on, go down the road and hit a bump and my mirror ends up in my lap. ive tried quicktite, and just about every adhesive specifically made for rear view mirrors at autopart stores..........

Found some stuff at the gas station that has a primer and a adhesive. That crap won't come off.

there is some killer stuff that Napa sells. we used to use it at the body shop I used to work at. you couldn't pull one of them things off, let alone have it fall off. they sell it as "rearview mirror glue." Imagin that...

First things first you HAVE to to do clean the windshield and the mating surface on the mirror. My g-friends used to fall down every 3-4 months with that auto store mirror glue. I took rubbing alcohol and a blue paper shop towel (lint free) and cleaned the two areas really well. Then I took a little JB Weld quick set and put a bb or pellet sized dot on the back of the mirror mount and then taped that into the correct spot on the windshield with masking tape. Clean up the excess after you press it tight to the glass.

I let it set up over night and it has yet to fall back off (knocks on wood). It's been up there for 3 years now. Oh, did I mention she parks outside in the Arizona sun every day?

GL!

To get it to stick take 000steel wool with acetone and scrub the windshield good. Then wipe with clean lint free rags and acetone. Next soak the shoe in acetone while cleaning the windshield then scuff sand it with 320 and clean off again with acetone. Use the rear view mirror adhesive from the parts store with the little vile of activator/primer and the little white triangular tube of adhesive. Follow the directions then tape the shoe in place for a few hours then install mirror. It shouldn't fall down again.

I use the special mirror glue they sell at AutoZone ($1.99). The guys are right, the secret is in prepping the surfaces well.

I've used this glue on three cars and none of the mirrors fell off so far. The good thing about this mirror glue is that it's set and ready to go in about half an hour (I know it from my experience).

a glass shop will usually put it back on for around 10 bucks and wont come off. it smells a lil stronger than the regular permetex or loctite brands.

clean it really well and use a gel type super glue... this stuff works soooo good i glued mine thinking i would have a few sec's to move it to the exact place and it froze in place almost instantly and i tried to take it of with some plyers cause i just put it on and it cracked my windsheild......... i work at a dealership and i use this on ever one that falls... just glue it and let it sit for a day then put on the mirror
