with 2 paint jobs i would reccommend stripin thru atleast the top paint job. as far as the dings go if they are 1/16 of and inch or less you can grind and fill them you can go up to 1/8 inch deep filler but i perferr not to. if they are deeper than that they will need to be pulled/bumped out.

depending on the shop i only charge 1800-2200 but im new and im tryin to amke a name for myself a shop would porlly charge upwards of 3k to strip it buy a good dual action sand and some 80 grit 6inch da self adhesive disc and go at her.
Youldl want to go over all the bare metal with a self etching primer or you could go over the whole car with an epoxy primer which would be better then a 2k high build primer surfacer such as k38 from ppg if you have anymore ?s check out the paitn and body link in my sig

Keep in mind that if you do the body work and prep, most shops will not touch painting your car; or if they do, they will not warranty the paint.
Another work of advise, before you start primering your ride, make sure you have decided on a shop first, and find out what brand paint they spray. After you find the brand, buy that brand of primer/sealer. There would be nothing worse that a shop spraying paint over non-compatible primer, and the whole paint job lifts, and you have to pay for 2 paint jobs.

Thanks for that bit, ill have to go talk to soem shops and see if they will let me do the prep work or at least strip it and do the majority of the dings
If you strip it yourself... Tape over ALL of the seams/cracks, remove ground effects, tape around windshield etc. You don't want the stripper getting into the seams because when the car is painted, any stripper you couldn't get out will bleed through the paint, start rust and just plain cause problems.
After stripping you can then remove the tape and sand the remaining paint off where the tape was.
