Shaving antenna
So my power antenna doesnt work any more, no problem, i listen to cd's, and i still get good radio pickup. This might sound cheap but its all I need right now
Can I just take out the antenna, and somehow get some margalss/bondo to sit in there and then just paint over it for now? Or am I gonna hit a bump and watch this thing fly out? just wondering cause If this method works Im gonna do it as a temporary fix until i get $$ for a paint job

Weld the hole shut. Bondo might last for a little while, but it will eventually crack. I welded my antenna hole shut- I think it looks 100% better than having one.

***problem*** i dont have a welder
So if I sand down to the metal around the area and build up the bondo....it should work? heres my awsome paint chop, as you can see i went on a shaving spree
i also lowered it, thats why the rockers look out of whack

You should be able to find someone with a welder and throw em some beer money to do it, if you lived in colorado i'd say bring it by. Shaving anything is best done with metal and finished with filler door handles, antennas, lockholes all shoudl be welded first.
I cut a piece of metal off my sister old fender we still had laying around when she smashed up her truck, trimmed it to fit the hole, held it form underneath and tacked all the way around and then in the center till it was sealed and close to the stock height, then used an extremely light glaze of filler to finish it. Get complements on it all the time people say it was a good finish job since unless you know camaros had a antenna there you dont think it ever had one.
I bought a new antenna assembly from autozone and mounted it under my dash, theres pics somewhere of where i ran it so you can look up my name and like shaved antenna and you'll see antenna was 10.99 and welding was free since i'm a welder
Get great radio fm or even am reception and you never see it.
I'd suggest definately getting rid of the door strip down the centers look much better but i dont care to much for 3rd gens with shaved handles and locks, door looks to bland to me, you should mold in a set of grand am or something like that handles that mount flush, that be cool...wish i had done it

I shaved mine just by gluing a piece of metal in there to hold the bondo, then leveled it with the filler. Looks great but I can't tell you how long it'll last becuase its only be 6 months.

Does anyone know where you can get the ones that are a thin little sticker that has the wire in it? Similar to the antennas that were made right into the glass. I was thinking you could just run one of those thin wire antennas along the top of the windshield and into the pillar and it would never be seen.

Shaved mine.. I just put the antenna under the dash pad.. didn't cut any wires or anything. I just kind of weaved the antenna under those small vents under the dash pad... very easy to do, you'd never know it was there.

heres a good question since i didnt shave my antenna. Since its an electric one, where to I 'pull the plug on it' to keep it down? Do I need to take out the passenger fender well to get to it?

hey 83, weren't you going to sell that beast??
I'm going to be shaving my antennae sooner or later, planned on just using fiberglass mat... Suppose I could use a stick welder to tack in a piece of sheet metal, then fiberglass bondo to smooth it out? I'm buying a stick welder today....
oh yea, I don't think radio shack makes anything for cars anymore...
but how could you put your factory antennae under your dash pad... would that still work? I figured it'd be really big and bulky...
Personally i'm going to keep an eye out for the aftermarket wire-in-sticker style one, my brother has a crown vic with a factory antennae in the rear glass, works well.... -J
