3rd g hvac controls to 4th gen controls possible?
well my prop is my controls have gone to the ****s and i don't like the way they looka nd this summer i am currently making a new center console and mount for the hvac and stereo mounting spots now could i take a 4th gen hvac controls and swap them into the 3rd gen keep in mind this will be custom so doesn't need to just bolt up cause i think there are soem 4th gen controls that are vacuum like the 3rd gens any imput would be appreciated.

yes... you can use the 4th gen controls... as for vac and electrical... i am using 98 camaro hvac controls.. the fan blower plugs directly in... you will need to splice the ac control wires.. the positon selector on the 4th gen is vac controlled .. there are a few posts here that tell what color is to what.. if you want blend you will need a bidirectional valve for the heat/defrost door. and the only tricky part is the cold.hot selector.. there are different way that people have aproached that... i extended the back of the 4th gen control panel so that the cable for the door would reach then modified the connector on the bottom of the door itself so you can hook up the 4th gen cable.. so in short.. yes you can use it

the vac lines on the 4th gen are pretty much the same as 3rd gen.. diff colors for functions... also you will have one extra line that is for blend mode.. and you can use it if you replace the heat/defrost valve with a 4th gen one or any 2 way valve that will fit... as for the line colors.. this is what i had for 98 camaro dash into 91 camaro
