Center Caps?

Hi,

I need 4 center caps and I'm considering those HAWKS sells.

I'm wondering if they are any good? (do they have the metal clip?)

Thanks for any input,

John

I know who would know. Call Hawks: 864-855-2694. For the price I'd suspect they were aftermarket caps, not GM.

These aftermarket center caps are bsing sold on eBay. They don't include the metal retaining ring. In fact they are a bit smaller on the ID and you have to grind some from the ID to use retaining rings.

my only advice would be to epoxy them onto the wheel. Dont know how it is where you live but people constantly steel them by me.

thx for the replys!

I would guess they would steal mines also...

so if you glue them down they became as hard to steal as the factory ones with the metal clip?

thx!!

I wouldn't glue them down, how would you have the wheel balanced?

I got these from Andyscaps....search online.

They look good, but they are plastic, no metal clip , just plastic tabs. I'm afraid to take them off now because I'm sure the tabs will break.

I think with some warm weather and if i gently pry the tabs a bit from the inside I can get them off with out breaking. Thats my plan anyway.

Yeah those dont have the metal clip. The metal clip sticks way out. Those could be easily pulled off.

Re-read the above post. The last set to be posted DO have the retainers installed.

is it just me or those look more like the originals?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true

the chicken under a thick smooth transparent coat?

I never knew how the originals looked like, but I don't mind paying a couple bucks more for a good set.

thx!

I FINALLY got those (can't wait to receive them).

When installing them, you need to take off the wheel, or you simply push them in from the outside?

Thx for all the advice!!

I have an aftermarket set and their a B--ch to get off. The best way to do it if you're afraid of breaking the tabs is to take the wheel off and gently tap then out from behind.

If your smart you'll have 99.99% luck buying stuff of there. Ebay is a great place to get nice parts. Check feedback that is key and read everything in the ad.

EBAY can be a real junkyard too. I've had more than my share of parts that were missing things or broken all together.

You'll know. For one, most of the aftermarket caps have a sticker as the emblem. And the emblems are not high quality. I think that most GM cap emblems were the embossed type. There are no part numbers on my aftermarket caps. GM put numbers on almost everything so why not caps? Theres a guy on ebay who sells the embossed decals for the caps. $14.00 for 4.
