guage replacement?

hey there,

so I don't like my ugly style guages from my '88.. and there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket products avaliable... is it possible to remove the old style and swap in the 91-92 style guages, easily? anyone tried this? ....or does the whole dash have to be removed? thanks!

Chris.

Custom dash?? They really aren't that hard, with the panel being flat and all. Lots of people are doing them, myself included.

er, what I meant to say was; can I unbolt the guage panel (1988) and bolt a 1991-92 style in, simple swap, plug and play?

no you have to replace the entire dashboard.
and rewire some stuff too.

I want to do this swap in my 84, but just don't have time it seems anymore.

No, however, there are a lot of aftermarket gauge panels for our cars. I will search to see if I can find it tonight, but, someone sells an aftermarket panel, with your choice of guages installed. Depending on which guages you choose obviously, they average around $700. But just try pricing a FULL set of guages out of Summit. You'll find this price is pretty good. And it IS a plug and play deal. Pull the old guage panel off, plug in the new one, and you are good to go. I will see if I can find a web address for you.

Covan's Classic makes a custom dash. Mine cost me about 500 just for gauges. Here's a few in this link.
