Easiest way to mount new seats??

Hey, I bought some seats off ebay with brackets to fit another car. Only one of the holes line up when I wiggle it around, didn't really expect more. Anyways, what's the easiest way to mount a seat like this? I was thinking buying a thick strip of metal and just makeing holes for the floor mounts, and holes for the seat mounts and just bolting everything up. Other's say cut holes in the floorboard, but I'm not too sure how that'll work because my floorboard pops up slightly where the stock seats mount. Anyone have any pics or ideas of how to mount seats? Thanks.

It is a serious PITA to make your own seat brackets. I did it, and the mounting points on the floor are all on different levels. There is a company somewhere (saw it in a post on this site) where you give them your seat type and car model and they will make you brackets. Much easier, IMO.

That's not the company I saw. They built them how high you want them. Most aftermarket brackets will raise the seat 1-2 inches over stock. Not cool. I'd pay $100 a seat, though. Just so you know, I had a welding shop weld up two brackets for me, which I designed. All they had to do was cut and weld where I told them. They are realy low, but cost $400!!!!! Needless to say, I was really pissed. I'm not going back to that shop.

I dont know if this will help you any but the few times I put racing buckets in a couple of my old cars I got the orignal seats and unbolted the sliders off of them then got a 1/2" piece of aluminum plate cut so it will perfectly on top of the sliders when they are bolted in the car, then bolt the plate to the sliders, then put the seat on the plate and locate the holes, drill, and attach. Kind of hard to describe but WAYYYY too easy.

look in the thread "cheap ebay race seats"

I'm putting sport/race seats in mine to replace the toyota celica seats I put in it right after I got the car.

I'm useing your idea and Lason's idea mixed together.

with mending braces (12" x 1-1/8" wide x 1/8" thick, 6 5/16" holes pre drilled) I took the sliders off my stock camaro seats, and sliders off new seats. Bolted the mending braces to the new seats, and bolted the stock camaro sliders to the mending braces.

Now just bolt the seat in the car like norm.

Any one know if there is a difference between the 4th and 3rd gen brackets as far as the hump on the pass side of the 3rd gen.
