Just about wrecked my car... (can this be fixed?)
It's a very sad day, my beautiful car that I loved and drove everywhere, and just paid $250 for new rims, $500 for tires, $41 to register, $274 for insurance down payment, $220 for a speeding ticket all just this past week. I worked on that car every day, it was my baby, and now its wrecked. I'm 99% sure the frame is bent and may not be worth repairing but atleast I can get a V8 :*). Anyway, if the frame is bent, how much would it cost to fix that. It looks like the front passenger's side corner is really screwed up but possibly fixable. Pics in the morning.

Get what you can off the car and get you another chassis. Unibodies arent ever the same after being straightened. If it is bent behind the strut tower in the core support then cut your losses. If it is only the front half of the core support that is bent it may be salvagable sincethe geometry may not have been effected but why chance it?

Well here are 2 pics. The whole front clip is pushed back a few inches, can that be fixed and is it worth doing? I can paint everything so I may be able to save my car.
Nope, its screwed. Notice the passenger strut tower leaning back? They could cut the core support off at the firewall and weld in a donor core support but they will need to measure everything 10 times to make sure they are getting it correct. All in all, you will spend more doing that then just buying a new chassis.

thats nothing, a good frame shop ought to be able to repair that, the radiator support may need to be replaced, but other then that its not too bad at all. my one lumina was MUCH worse. anyone can say all they want about the car never being the same afterwards. but speaking from experience i can say mine is just as good if not better. it rides the same, handles better and feels the same.

all in all, it's just parts. you could probably find everything in the classifieds. i wrecked mine worse than that in the front...bent the entire radiator support and collapsed in the fenders....fixed it all with parts found in the classifieds. good luck

Well I painted it once before so I'm down to do it again. I'm getting a TA hood this time, I've always wanted one.

I've been in your shoes, check out my site. In my case I was able to get the work done - but have regretted the decission many a time ever since. Why? Because having a car with even a properly pulled out frame will continue to have many other problems associated with the accident that caused it. There is more that happens to a car than body work can fix when something of this magnitude impacts the front end.
Best of luck whichever method you choose to take. My advice is to salvage what you can and move on to a Trans Am with at least a 305 TPI. They're good base cars to work off of, and with your paint experience you can take a car in need of TLC and forget you ever had the v6 bird.

...and good luck trying to align that thing again
whether it is actually the front end suspesion parts or just where the hood meets the headlights....
its not worth it for a base v6 firebird

If you love the car, and you see the chance to do it, fix it! There isn't a difference between a V8 or a V6 if you feel real love for it!
Good luck!!!

Well a V8 means higher insurance (I'm 18, I can't afford much more), worse gas mileage, and purchasing a whole new car is going to certainly cost more than fixing this thing. I can get a hood, fender, bumper, and headlight for about $400, then I can paint it all for $200, so if straightening the front is cheap then I'll do it.

i understand the love for a car...im just saying u will be spending lots more money and u could put it into another car and enjoy it just as much.
Sounds like u have a deal on parts which is good...none the less...having to deal with frame damage is one that is not so easy...it needs to go to a professional shop.
You put on all those new parts...there not gonna fit right...
I wish you luck and its your choice if you do bring the car back, more power to you.
Sorry bout the accident bro, i was just in one myself with my car which is currently in the shop as we speak...
dunno if you missed my thread in apprance about it but anyway...heres how she turned out...

you may be able to pull it back out but you will have to pay a frame shop probably 500+ dollars to do it. Plus have you pulled back the carpet and looked at the floor pans to see if they are wrinkled. The front end could also be twisted slightly. Also whatever you figure itll cost you to fix it double that price. And triple the amount of time.
It isn't easy to fix a wrecked car and to get it all lined back up correctly.

Floor pans are good. A guy is giving me an estimate tomorrow so we'll see. $500 for aligning the front and I won't bother. 5.0 TPI here I come!

get an estimate to fix it if you think the car is worth it. my car got hit a while back and it sucks, but sometimes these things mean to much to just ditch for another unless its a total loss.

Some guy is coming out tomorrow to give an estimate but if the tower is bent then it probably won't be pretty. It's such a slap in the face when I: 1. bragged to my family the day before how I never had an accident, and 2. said how reliable my car was and will never die although I got it for $700! Oh the irony.

being 17 at the time when i got the car i had my license for about 8 months before that bought my own truck took care of it and shown to my parents how responsible and that cars and driving meant alot to me. My dad helped me out on my car...what did i do? i hit a parked car a month and a half after getting it.
After saying how much im the best damn driver in the world...i messed up and i look back it so much and how stupid i was for doing it.
anyway, i wish you luck tell us how it goes

Here's the damage on a '91 Firebird that I bought for $600. The kid is joining the USMC and doesn't have time or the 2K he was quoted to fix it.
