Modifications for switching from manual to auto?

Hey can anyone here tell me what kinda modifications might be needed in order to fit an auto transmission (TH350) into my car which is a manual (T5). It would seem that something needs to be cut but not sure if thats the only thing or if thats needed at all.

Thanks

Sorry I thought this would be the fitting forum since this deals with modifying the interior (the center console area where the shifter is) as well as the body (I'm thinking something on the floorboard needs to be cut?)

If a mod sees it fit, can this be moved?

Not much cutting. You're going to need to fill in the hole where the shifter was with a new piece of sheet metal, or from the floorpan of a junked car. You can also fill the hole where the clutch pedal was, but I'd just use a grommet. The only cutting I could imagine would be a hole for the shifter cable, but if you get the floor from another car that's not an issue.

Ok so I assume then I'm going to have to find a center console out of a Camaro that was an automatic? Also I figure there would be cutting needed to be done due to the different location and size of the shifter (The T5 is more of a square pattern whereas the auto is more of a rectangle) I'd figure I'd hafta cut a thin long rectangle along the floor pan to allow the shifter free movement up and down.

This is just what im figuring.... I'm basically posting to make sure if I'm figuring right and maybe someone could mention something I'd be missing.

The automatic shifter bolts to brackets on the floor, nothing goes through the floor except a cable through a grommet. You won't be cutting anything, you'll be filling in the existing shifter hole, as mentioned.

Ok so I'll just need to get a center console from a 700R4 car, correct? To make sure everything is in place? If so I'm gonna start hitting up the junkyards...

all i had to do is fill in the hole. i bought a b&m megashifter for our cars and it fit in the console perfectly.
my car was originally an auto.

Cover the hole with some thin sheetmetal and bolt the shifter in. You will want to make a bracket for the front of the shifter to bolt down to if you go with a B&M Megashifter, otherwise they kind of flop around when you just bolt them to the back mount. I have all the parts for this. I even have a B&M shifter I might sale or a factory shifter. You don't need to change anything in the console. Just the top plate that goes around the shifter. Which you don't even actually need to change. Have you seen an Orange '87 IROC-Z running around Lincoln? It is a friend of mines car. He swapped out the automatic plate for a 5 speed plate and retained the factory automatic shifter, looks much nicer.

I need a master and slave cylinder setup. Why don't you call me and I could get you the parts for this swap and you can just trade them to me.
