I bought a shifter boot from them one time. I had to modify it to make it fit, and even then it didn't look right.

Are you sure you didn't end up with a 4th-gen carpet for some reason? Carpets are usually cut-to-fit anyway, but from the sounds of it, you may have received the wrong piece.

there is no such thing as a direct bolt in product when it is in fact aftermarket. ACC, 1aauto and the rest all use the same style carpet mold. it takes practice that's for sure and definately need to cut up the carpet some to fit perfect but that's why the extra length is there. even with the transmission cutout option there is still alot of work invovled but if you take your time and do it right it's worth it.

the molded carpet available. particularly the stock 800 count is not the best carpet out there but it is a direct replacement and for the price very good carpet. now you personally may have had bad carpet but i had to do alot of work making mine perfect with the cuts which was time consuming but worth it.

so is it the carpet itself is of poor quality or did you not like the fact that the carpet didn't just lay in place and be perfect with no work?

I know both of you know what you're doing, so let's not get out of hand; it's just Internet communication, it's hard to gauge the meaning behind what people say.

As far as the vendor goes, 1A has usually been pretty good. I would talk to them just to let them know what happened and see if you possibly got sent the wrong piece. Carpets always involve some measure of work, but it should at least lay correctly within the mold of the floor pans.

I'm going to move this to Body & Interior to see if anyone can help or has experience with carpet orders from 1A.

hey kandied91z weren't you looking to replace your carpet with a 1500 count. if you did what was the name of the company that you purchased it and price. as far as aftermarket products go i have to agree with kandied on that one cause i have seen all sorts off "direct bolt on parts" and they fit like my crap. i had to do lots of mods to the dumbest things out there so carpets are no exception i guess.

i used acc carpet last summer in the trans am. i realized replacing carpet is a lot of work. doing minimal work due to the fact that the car is by no means a show car and i didn't feel like spending a rediculous amount of time on it, i was able to get it "good enough" it's not acc's fault that the carpet does not lie completely perfect, much the same as why it's not hawk's fault if you can't just slap on a 5" spoiler and have it perfect without any work.

I got mine from them and it just fell into place, had to trim on the sides for the door sills and open the hole a little for the console area but that was it..... took about an hour...

I also got my seat covers from tham and I am very pleased with everything, door seals, hatch seal

I have their carpet and turn signal lever. The lever is as original and works perfectly. The design by nature for them is flimsy and absolute junk thanks to the General and mine is holding up as well as an OEM would.
The carpet always has to be slightly modified to fit no matter who you get it from. Even an NOS one thats been boxed for some years will take some time to conform. The carpet is best applied when it has been in the sun for some time and gotten hot. People often skip this step. A friend who does upholstery work steams the carpet slightly which he says helps but I've never tried that. I am very happy with both of their products.

I don't like their outer window sweeps at all. Got their T-top headliner, and am not happy with that either. Doesn't fit right around the tops. I'm 0 for 2, and there won't be number 3.

well i couldn't find any company that made a molded thirdgen carpet over 1,000 count. i'm still trying to find a shop in the great lakes region that can custom make the carpet i want and fit it so we'll see..

the 1,000 you can get from any of the companies like ACC and the rest. highly recommend it as had i known about it i wouldn't have gotten the 800. it's not only a finer grade with a tighter feel but it doesn't shed as much.

1A auto is good to go! I bought carpet and a power window motor from em, I've had the motor in now 3 years, still works like new. As far as the carpet, well........it still looks good sitting in the box............ lol. Shipping could be a little faster though. Price wise they are excellent on quite a few items.

I was happy with their 1A carpet. It did take soem work to get it in. I had to cut the center console hole a little wider and cut the oles for the seats and the seatbelts. If you have a SHARP knife or better yet, a good razor it makes the job easier. Another trick I used was to use carpet tape and my steam iron, set on rayon to "iron" out the high spots. There were a couple of wrinkles that just would not lay down but I hit those spots with double sided tape and the iron and down they went. That insulation was a Bear to cut through. The only worrysome thing with those aftermarket carpets is that the padding/insulation is thin and only covers about 5/8ths of the area that stock padding covered. I pulled the old padding from the origional and sprayed adhesived it to the floor pan. Then I put the new carpet down.
