HELP! Was wondering if any of you knowledgeable thirdgenners can tell me if when purchasing a used 91-2 Z28 guage cluster, should I be concerned that the speedo & tach needles are not on zero (when not installed)? I bought one already out of car & mph needle is like on 45 or something. I apreciate any info U all can give me.

Yeah, I am hoping 2 put in my 88 vert. (which currently has stock 115mph speedo) & later also plaan to get some of those coool looking reverse indiglo/white faces-probably should do that b4 mounting in car, huh? Excuse my ignorance but what's the Vss & how who I acess it? Thanks for info.

Have you even tried mounting a 90-92 panel in your dash ? You DO know its nowhere near a direct bolt in fit up perfect easy type of deal right ?

About the most reasonable way is to swap the whole 90-92 shell in there, IMO it looks much better with its less squared lines.

To do this you need the shell from a 90-92 , the metal end brackets which you remove by drilling out spot welds on them. The gauge trim bezel from a 90-92. I've done the swap in 5 thirdgens. Quite a nice upgrade I think...

Well, picked up another one yset. (along w/several other goodies) & to my surprize, he gave me the entire dashboard w/a bunch of wires & "Z28 " badge to beat. So when I get some time to look it over in detail, (or more likely tire of it sitting in the apartment ) I'll try to get it in. Have you ever installed any of those white faced, reverse indiglo gauges in a Z28 dash?

91-2 cluster swap

Hey R i c e r,
I was just reading Ur reply above & was wondering about the metal brackets that needed to be drilled out of I assume the donor Z28, will it bolt up to the bracket in my 88 & have U ever installed any of the reverse glow white faced guages? Also do U have any pics of any of the swaps U've done-maybe like a b4 & after? Thanks in advance 4 Ur time & wisdom.
