Headlights Adjustment

I have... well by my nickname you can figure out what car I have. Bought that beauty 2 days ago. I have this problem with left headlight when trying to pop 'em up. The Right one pops up and the left one only pops half way and starts to juggle, I have to pull it up manually. It stays in place ok and goes back down just fine. Can I adjust it some how? I tried lubricating the gears and everything but it didnt work . Theres a twist **** right next to it but I have no idea what to do with it. Thank you for any help.

Most likely the drive couplers from the gear to the cover are crumbled to nothingness.

U can order repair parts from Lon at TDS here or hit the Fiero boards and do a search there too for someone who does something similiar...

although I'm betting if u dissassemble the headlite and take the pieces to a hobby shop some styrene solid tubes could be matched up and cut to fit real easily

later

Great! Thanks for a fast reply! I went to O'rellys and they told me that there was a motor problem. But I guess I will check both.

Hmm It was weird... it works now but still jumps for about 20 sec. I guess you were right about the gears I can hear the motor running when the headlight goes up and down. I guess all it needed is a good lubrication (dont we all). I will replace the motor eventually though. Well I ll post some pics on my car domain witch I will have later on in my signature thanks for all the help.

3/8" ball bearings are a whole lot cheaper and easier to find. I just have to take care of the passenger side motor now and both motors will be good until the electrical parts die.

What you have to do is remove the three screws holding the gear cover on, and loosen the two holding the motor housing (the part that holds the magnets) to the gear housing. You should be able to get enough clearance to wiggle the gear/shaft assembly out. Take the nylon gear off of the metal shaft and dump out all of the plastic crap that held the two parts together originally. Put the ball bearings (you need three per motor) in the tracks at the bottom of the nylon gear and put the metal shaft back through it. Assemble the motor and watch it run. It's that easy. Cost me about $.85 to fix the DS headlight...

what size ball bearings, because my left headlight is doing the same thing, so what i do now is turn em on when at speed so the wind can help out the crippled headlight...

This was a double post and i cant delete it so, hows about a lil joke?
This magical frog was wondering in a forest when he came upon a bear hunting down a rabbit. The frog stopped the two and said he would grant the two each 3 wishes because he had never seen anyother animals before. The bear thinks for a second and says, "i wish for all the bears in the forest to be female." the rabbit wishes for a crash helmet. the bear laughs because the rabbit wasted his wish on a lousy helmet. The bear stops and thinks and says, "i wish for all the bears in the next forest over to be female." the rabbit says nothing and simply wishes for a dirt bike. the bear laughs even harder and wonders why the rabbit just doesnt wish for money to buy the helmet and the bike. Then the bear says I wish for all the bears in the world to be female. Then, the rabbit says, "i wish the bear was gay"
