Best 4" hood...???
Ok all i wanna know is...
1) who makes the best 4" hood?
and
2) what is the best place to order the hood from Q #1?
I am gonna be getting my 383 soon, and i want to use my stock hood, but if I have fitment issues due to the hight of the intake, I wanna start my research here.
ps-pics would be bad *** too !!!

just stay away from F-body motor sports, other than that, they probably all come from the same manufacturer, like Goodmark. I can't remember who made my 2", but I (regretably) bought it from f-body motorsports.

Thanks VroomVroom87Z28....I will make sure to steer clear of them. How does your hood sit now after all the problems you had?
Anyone have any AWSOME or BEST HOOD EVER stories..... hehe

Hawks is a good place to deal with. If I were you I would avoid a 4 inch hood because most of them do not flow with the lines of the car too well. I would look into a 2 or 3 inch hood and you may have enough clearance. For Camaro's the SS is always a good choice, and then there is always the cowl. Good luck.

I am a bit lost. What do you mean, "and then there is the cowl". As I understand, the 4" is a cowl induction hood. I don't really wanna go with 4" but I feer I might have to. I am gonna go with as small as possible. I am pretty sure 4" is over kill, but not that many people do 3" ones. I seem to see a lot of 2" and then 4". I like the SS hood, but I also don't like non-functioning stuff, so i don't want that scoop. I wanna make the car sleek. It is having EVERYTHING shaved off, and lowered quite a bit. No exhaust tips. very streamlined. I think you know what i mean. Any suggestions on hoods and places?

your welcome, my hood is non functional, strictly for looks (cowl hood on a TPI) In retrospect I would have gone with a ram air hood so at least it could be made to function, live and learn I guess. You're right about a 4" scoop being gaudy...gawdy....gaw-de.........whatever. As for the fit on mine, it's not perfect, the gaps on the sides are uneven, and it's a little off on the front passenger side. The fender isn't pulled back enough so the nose is a little further out and you can see how it doesnt quite line up. But considering it was wrecked in the front, had the sheet metal replaced with reproduction, and had the driver's side front rebuilt (and I mean rebuilt, like cut up a parts car and weld it in kind of rebuild) I'm pretty happy with it. It's not perfect but what is? I'll have to post pics of it sometime.
BTW: Checked out your car domain site, AWESOME! That's a lot of work, I applaud it, you're gonna have one sweet car when it's all done. It reminds me of rebuilding my first gen, which is yet to get back on the road. But when you say fuel cell, you mean like Hydrogen?

VroomVroom87Z28....hehe...no no. The fuel cell is that aluminum "box" kinda thing I have mounted in the rear. It is my gas tank. They are mainly used for racing. It is filled with a GM fuel level sending unit and foam to prevent the gas from sloshing around. It also has a baffle and 2 out ports and 1 in port and 1 breather port (rollover valve). I got it from JEGS. A lot of drag guys use them, just not this big.
The reason i went this route would take more typing than I feel like doing right now. But in the end i get to shave the outter gas door since I will be filling up throught the hatch now
ps- THanks for the compliments
It has been a long and torturouse road to get this far. Allways glad to see people that appreciate all the hourse that go into these things.
Keep checking back the 500 HP motor is being built
