Is your handle bent?

Hello fellow third gen members. I was wondering if any of you have the handle that is bent to operate the drivers outside manual mirror. I always looked at mine and thought it looked funny so I replaced it today with a straight one. Was this bent handle factory, and if it was, when did they change to a straight one. I will hold onto it in case I need to put it back. here is a pic.

I think they were meant to be straight, but I'm not sure. I've got power mirrors, but I have an 82 or 83 parts car that has got manual mirros, and I believe that piece is straight, but don't quote me on it.

I thought it should be straight but when I removed it it looked like it was factory bent.

Well that's good to know. Now how the heck do you suppose this hardened piece of steel could get bent like that without breaking everything it was connected to? I would have figured that at least the bezel would have broken. Thanks for the input everyone.
