Need opinions...

This is not you average opinion thread, I reckon.

Some know about my car that was wrecked while back. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=323812

Well anyways I decided I see what it might cost to fix it anyways. I found out it is about $500-1000 + $2500(which I assume would be what ever body work from previous dents and paint).

I need to know what ya'll think.
Is it worth it or should I buy another car?

If you plan on keeping the car for awhile its worth it. If you might try to sell sometime in the semi near future, its not. Problem is now the vehicles been in major collision so its not worth as much...

Plus putting money into a car is never profitable you'll never get it back

My vote would be to fix it especially if you have an emotional attachment. Just remember you wont get your money back...

i agree, i would only fix it if i had an attachment to the car. once you put money into it your not going to be seeing it again.

Well it is my first 3rd gen + my first daily driver, so yeah I am a little attached. Had the car for 6 years or so now.

thx for the input.

Sorry to say I disagree....I dumped over 6k in my 1991 rs and was never fully happy with it....and there are still plenty of these cars out these worth putting some money into.. I ended up selling the rs for $2500 so putting $3,000 into yours...well. You can buy a very nice z-28 for $4k-$5...what ever you decide good luck

yeah one reason why its so dern hard trying to make a choice. Its border line of the cars value before, and I know if i ever spent the money I never get it back. Be hard to anyways.

What makes it worse is I found RS similar to what my project would have ended up at.
1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS, 350 motor and trans, t/top, new $1500 pain, cd, tint, flowmaster, ac, runs good, dependable, must sell $3,000 obo.
best deal though i have seen is 1986 Camaro, 15okm 1984 Z28, 350/700R4, 3.73 rear, auto, pw, pb, ps, daily driver, price reduced, needs little, awesome 1st car project, $2300.

Yet its hard to turn down the car that got you started on it all. I have heard horror stories of the suspension being off and what not, then again hear some that turn out fine.

I am going to try and make a descion by the end of this month at the latest.

I know but to tell the truth sometimes it is better to let it go and save a better one...If you could do all the work yourself...I would still think it over..I loved my 1991 rs bought it off the original owner but after all the money and time...and after a stick saturn beat it I HATED IT...so if I were you I'd opt for another and part out your old friend

I think that you might be better off cutting your losses on this car.. It looks to have some serious structural damage to it and I would also have to guess that it doesn't have a clean title anymore and would be considered a rebuild... That can become a pain having to go safety test it after your done... Again though your the one with the decision to make. I myself would look for a clean Z28 to start from and part yours out.

I would look for another one. Even if you pay all that money to fix it... The car will never be the same again.

You will miss it though. I still miss my 91 Firebird that I totaled & replaced over 5 years ago!!

Thats kind of what I am leaning towards is getting another. I probably sit on this car for a while before I start parting out stuff.

Also another factor is the car has 164,8(something) miles.

The interior is not maroon, its gray.

Well part of the reason I am sitting on the car and getting another is maybe somehwere down the line I will fix it. First I want to have me a good 3rd gen again or some kind of 80's car that be fun to drive.
