New Shift ****
Hello,
I bought this shift **** off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWN%3AIT\
From what I read it should be a direct bolt in for the camaro. But it seems that when I slip it on that something is keeping it from slipping down the shifter shaft all the way. Can anyone help me solve this problem?
Han

Make sure there isn't a set screw that is threaded in already because im pretty sure most aftermarket shifters use this method, also i did not see it saying it fit a camaro or f-body in general only a fiero and grand-prix which should still work....but keep that in mind also and goodluck
Did your car originally have the round ball shifter? the one with the snap rings on top to hold it on. if so you are going to need a different shifter assembly to use that ****. The round ball auto shift ***** on the 3rd gen camaro's pretty much only fit the ball, they are not set up the same with the c clip like the later camaro's and all the Firebirds. and 90% of the GM cars made in the 80's and 90's.

I still think that that shifter should work even if he had a ball shifter with the c-clips just instead of using the c-clips you are using the setscrew to hold it down, or that shifter could be like mine where in the front there is a little metal tab/clip thingy that u just pull out now if you had the ball shift **** before i am unsure about using the t style handle...someone else have imput?

Yes,
I had a ball shifter, so i'm going to need to look into getting an assembly off a later camaro/firebird correct? Does anyone know of what year models i'm gonna need?

Well i am not even sure if camaro's had a T style shifter but i can tell you forsure firebirds came with them so if u had to im sure you could convert the shifter shaft to a firebird shaft and then it would more then likely fit, but what method does your aftermarket shifter use to hold itself in place does it have a set screw or that flat horizontal tab,or a c-clip(doughtful)

then it is using the same method as firebirds use to hold them on with the flat tab thing and as you used to have the c-clip style i am now unsure if that is compatible with your shaft, would someone that has a camaro like to give some advice?
