Saving My Floorpan
here are some pics and such after finding some rust in my floorpan during an interior swap...i have 5 small holes in the driver side front that i had patched at a shop...they overcharged me 300 bucks...should have costed under 100 i think but whatever...then i sanded and cleaned the crap out of the rust using a rust remover from eastwoodco.com and then after cleaning and degreasing used their rust encapsulator/sealer and it turned out really nice
i finished it off with nice sound deadener cant remember from where though it was from the ppl that used to sell "brown mat" i think it was called something like that correct me if someone will plz
here are the progress pics
sorry i didnt take any of the rust repair...i had a good amount of surface rust and a little deep rust all on the drv side that i grinded away with a 41/2 grinder with wire cup and then cleaned and applied the rust encapsulator

haha man nice your car looks exactly like mine i even had the orange wire bulb light on the mirror NICE while working...yeah its the place that used to sell "brown bread" its theyre second to best sound deadener i think called the "pro" type next to their much more expensive elite stuff
any ways two rolls for under 150 bucks did nearly all the car with double padding the back end for the noisiest part

I wonder how much of that sneaky rust is hiding under that dynomat.....
Getting to it or even detecting it will be hard. Usually can't tell till the floor rotts right thru.

thats why you derust a use the best rust prevention possible to keep rust from coming back that way you dont have to worry about more returning...also the mat i got is waterproof so the only way rust will get to my pans is from underneath and i still have plenty of the sealer left and will eventually get under the car and line the bottom of the pans with sealer as well
its just about as hard to check as it would be to remove your entire carpet and everything else and in the mean time my car will be much quieter than those without it
