I am new and I got an IROC

I am new to the f-body world. Just about 2 months ago I came across this 1988 Iroc with t-tops the 5.7 and a 700r4. It has about 82,000 miles. This is my first time posting pics so bear with me.

I picked this up for $1800. I just put new tires a little tune up and changed the oil. Please tell me what you think.

Rock on Beavis! Damm only 1800 bucks. Thats great. I got mine for 1550, but yours looks in way better shape than mine did a year ago.

Think about it, you got it for 1800 bucks, put say another 8-10 into it and for under 20,00 grand it will be like new and you will have a car that will stomp the **** outta many others on the road.

Wow, very nice find! Aside from some cosmetic work, it looks to be in great shape. I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us do ours!

Thank guys, I do have a few questions. Is the shifter correct with the year and it needs all new weatherstriping, where can I find some? I also rebuilt all the calipers and put Gas Adjust shocks and struts on. I will eventualy bring it back to complete stock, especialy the interior. Also, the person that had it before me took the smog system of and the catalytic convertor off is that ok, there is no emissions here in Texas so Im not too worried about it.

very nice! It looks like that shifter came off a Sunfire though. I believe yours should have the push button style shifter

It does have the decal on the side. You can barely see it in the first pic, its kinda hard to see due to the glare but it is a real IROC i checked the vin and RPO codes.

85, 86 and 87 had a B4Z rpo code due to the fact that both Z28s and IROCs were made.

Looks like a good find man, just needs a little TLC.

And after many.. many.. different kinds of mufflers, I'm dead set AGAINST flowmaster.

Nice IROC. It should make a very interesting toy. As for the weatherstripping, check Hawk's (link at the top of the page) for the weatherstripping. Classic Industries is also a company you'll definitely want to look into (you can build a 69 Camaro from scratch with their catalog).

Actually, if you read High Geared's post carefully, you'll see that it's twenty-hundred grand, not two thousand grand.

All BSing aside, you did real well. The hood is a little rough, but that paint job is sweet, and the low milage is cool.

Hey
JG1 that means you have an alluminum driveshaft! I need to find one for my IROC. I like the fouth gen tips too, they suit the car. As for the price DEAL and I love the colour, my next IROC will be gunmetal, but for now I will make due with black.

Have fun with your toy

Congrats and welcome to the world of Irocs. I also am a proud new owner of an 85 Iroc I bought for $850 from Baltimore MD and drove it home 2000 miles 2 days ago. Your car is sweeeeeeet and I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine. If you don't mind I will post a pic of my new toy. Thanks for sharing and have fun restoring and keep us posted on the work you are doing to her. I know mine needs some interior restoration and some weather stripping work as well. If you find a heck of a deal on weather stripping please pm me.

Wow, congrats on the purchase! You got a sweet deal for $1800, it looks to be in very good shape. Welcome to the IROC world. You got one of the top end IROC-Z's, you should be proud. Our cars could just about pass for twins, except for the color and 1 year diff. I've got the same setup with the 5.7L, 700R4, 9-bolt and disc brakes all around, etc all that good stuff.

I got my baby for $1400 almost 3 years ago, and it looked in alot worse shape than yours. Now mine's going under the knife with a LT1/T56 swap, 4th gen interior swap and a full suspension upgrade this winter. It'll be fun! I'm truly happy with my IROC and all of it's little flaws, it's my most prized posession and even though I get pissed off fixing it sometimes, I love it all haha. Hope you have fun with yours too!
