lexan headlight covers?

i've heard that someone made clear or smoked lexan headlight covers that went with the tail light black-outs. can i still buy these? when i'm on the highway and moving over 90mph, the corners of my 'glass hood start to flex upwards 'cause the air rush up off the headlights lifts the hood! i could put hood pins in, but the air resistance would be still there.....seems a headlight cover that follows the fender contour would really streamline the car. anybody know?

If you can't find any you could consider making them, tinted plexi isn't very expensive.

thanks all....i'll give GTS a try...if they don't make them anymore. then i'll have to make them. hey, would they be legal if i used clear plexi? 'seem to remember something illegal about covering headlights...or is it a state by state thing?

I recommend making your own, those GTS ones have a good track record of flying off as highway speeds because of thier retarded mounting system....

No they use these silly plastic "tabs" that you have to stick in the sides of your headlight buckets, and usually the covers take flight because of the pressure put on them at high speeds, plus when you go to take off the "tabs" thier really good at taking paint with them..... Basically they attach with 3m double sided tape and a weak 10c piece of plastic....not worth the cash

I bought a '84 Charger 2.2 new(at the time my play car was a '70 Monte Carlo SS454) and the front style, similar to the Camaro, was just missing something with the open headlight buckets.Direct Connection, now Mopar Performance, made a clear set of headlight covers that use 4 tabs each that were secured into the buckets with screws. The covers themselves attached to the tabs using 1/4 turn fasteners. The covers even came with rubber seals that did a good job of keeping water out.The export version of the Camaro used something similar from '82 to '84,I'm not sure how long it was offered. You could make something similar yourself. The brackets were just simple "L" brackets,of course angled to lay the cover back. You might be able to find something similar thru Jeg's or Summit to use the 1/4 turn fastners(they start with a D but can't remember). Most states you're ok with clear covers but I'd check to make sure.I never had any problem here in SC but then that was 21 years ago.

GTS still sells the clear headlight covers. My first set did get blown off when I got washed by a trailer truck going the opposite way. The second set has stayed on, but I have added a retension wire, so even if they come loose they wont go any where. I've driven to about 90 with out a problem, and for one track day I put painters take across the bottom to prevent air form getting under them and drove with them up to 120 mph at Mid-Ohio sports car course.
