Good or bad, you decide.

Well everyone, on my way home from school today I was on a two lane road going about 35, when all of a sudden a Chevy Astro full size van tries to turn onto the same road in the close lane, I was in the lane next to where it was attempting to go.

Well anyway, the van couldn't make the turn and went partially into my lane, hitting me right behind the front passenger side wheel. We both pulled over and he agreed that it was his fault, we exchanged information and then a police officer came and sorted things out as well.

Afterwards I took it to a body and paint shop for an estimate, and it will be about $2000 worth of damage without painting the whole car. But then I got to thinking, why not just let this guy's insurance pay for the damage and as much paint as it will let me, and then pay extra to paint the whole car? My dad agrees with me on this, so my question for you is, what color do I go with?

EDIT: I have pics, but don't know how to post them, lol.

By the way, the damage to the van was not very bad, just the front bumper thing was dented.... oh well, I am glad insurance is paying for everything and most of the paint as well. I can't wait to get my car in and then get it back with nice new paint!

Ouch, $2K without paint seems steep. If you've got some time on your hands you can probably get a replacement fender for $50, door with mirror for $75, ground effects for $50, bolt it all up and put that money towards a nice quality paint job.

Keep the factory color on the car. Unless you spend a lot or do a lot of work it will look like a white care with the wrong color everytime you open the hood or expose an area that was not painted. Take a look around the net and see how lame it looks to have a black car with red under the hood or any other mismatch of color. I want a red one and have a white one. I will be painting it white again one the engine is reworked and reinstalled. Seriously thinking of a red one to go with it.

Damn, did that Astro van have teeth. It looks like something took a bite out of your car. I love white Camaro's, but only when they have some black accents to them. Get some black stripes down the middle with black headlight buckets.

i recently had an accident and am doing the body repair work myself. from the looks of it all you need is a new fender, door, and ground effects. all of which can be had pretty cheaply off of ebay and a junkyard. i got a new fender (non nos but fits perfectly) from ebay for 60 shipped i believe. the work isnt that hard whatsoever, just a bunch of 10mm bolts and maybe an 8mm here and there. i suggest you get the money from the insurance company, do the body work yourself, then put the rest of the money into a new paint job or whatever else your heart desires.

Could not have said it better. Frankly, it bugs me when I see a poorly done color change. Well done ones where the entire car is disassembled and painted piece-by-piece can come out excellent, but for a body shop job, keep it stock white.

I have spoken to many body shops, trying to get my whole car repainted. well in my case it was a truck. But same thing, in my case bout 45% Needed paint. I wanted to pay whetever extra it would cost. But i never found one that would do it. They always said it was something bout how they bill and deal with the insurance company. so do it yourself, or just paint the corner and deal. I say do it yourself in the body is straight. Please have that checked first. Ther'e insurance company should pay for that two.

2k would pay for all the equipment you would need to do it yourself,
