WTF did I do wrong replacing my door pin and bushing?
Ok guys,
I have been here searching for about 4 hours and I am frustrated already, I probably saw the answer but I don't get it. I replaced the drivers door hinge, pin, and bushings today. It was an easy swap and I did it by myself in about 1 hour. Now here is the problem, I didn't losen the upper hinge bolts at all, I removed the lower and let the door rest on a jack. After I replaced everything the door is in worse shape than it was, it won't open and has scraped the chit out of my new paint
Am I missing something, did I do something wrong? Any and all help is appreciated.
New set up

Probably have to re-adjust the hinges to there original placement. It has most likely been adjusted to compensate for the bad bushings. Try lining up the hinge with the old paint marks from the original alignment.
The simplest way is to slightly loosen all but one bolt push door closed until just before touching/hitting, sight the line up and determine which way the door needs to go, up or down.
A jack stand works great for supporting the door while replacing/adjusting.

Thanks for replying,
I just removed the old hinge and replaced the new one without doing anything to the top. Is there a bolt tightening sequence or what steps should I do to do it right?

Did you check the door latch striker. You can loosen that & adjust it around a little bit too..Check your gap along the bottom of the door.

I wish it was that simple
The entire door fell down about 1" and it will not open or close without scraping the fender and I have to hold the door up and pull it out just to open or close it

Can you actually move the door up & down that much after you open it.If so it could be loose hinge bolt/s.That or you bent the upper hinge.Check the hinges/pins/bolts while you move the door up & down.

Before I began the only thing that was bothering me was the roller pin because it was jacked. I might have jacked the door up too high but I never checked alignment of the new lower hinge or bolt tightening sequence. I just pulled out the old one, put in the other one, tightened everything and everything is all FACKED UP

Were you supporting the door BEFORE you took the hinge pin or hinge off.If not you could have bent the upper hinge body.If so you may be able to fix that.Have you check for anything loose/bent while you move the door up & down?

You need to check why the door moves so much while you pull it up/down.1 inch is alot.or does it just drop after you open it.

To tell you the truth I am a moron
The door worked ok but I am **** about my car so I decided to attempt to replace the hinge and pin and bushing. I should have left it the way it was because I screwed everything up. It opened and closed good, not great, but now it won't even open without tearing the chit out of the fender. I actually have to raise the door by the handle and pull it out just to close it. I am having to use the passenger door to get in and out until I can fix it. Why do I try to fix these things

You should reallly check for something that may be loose or just plain mis-adjusted.Maybe you didnt put the hinge back in the same spot. Those doors are heavy & if your hinge bolts are a little loose the hinge could be moving up/down.
