BEST AFTERMARKET SEATS
HI, I was just currious what seems to be the best aftermarket seat for our F-BODYS. I am redoing my 91-Z and would like to see some photos of what you have maybe installed in your cars. I have done a search but there dosent seem to be alot of photos out. It dosent matter if its leather or cloth. Thanks for all your help.

I actually had a set of junkyard Fiero seats reworked and recovered. My original intent in using them was to lower the seating position so I fit in the car with a helmet on but they worked out really well. I recovered them to look stock using NOS material. Got the seats for $20 and had them redone in expensive NOS material for $700. Using regular material would have brought cost down to $500 or so. I am using the stock fiero seat track on the drivers side as well.

Thanks for the photos, that really looks good, I have looked at those at summit racing. I noticed it looks like you have a fouth gen console in the car also. They seem to fit well, is there enough width to the car with the panels on?

The "best" seats I've ever sat in are the Flo Fits that I put into my GTA. I think they are a fantastic seat for comfort and support, and also look appropriate in a thirdgen. They give ample room around the thighs, but hug you in the ribs to keep you in place. Great seats for a bigger guy.

I'm sure some of the high end Recaros, Cobras and similar seats are also very good, but I've never sat in them. I've sat in some Corbeaus and was not at all impressed.
Best bang for the buck for cheaper seats in my opinion is the Yonaka Ronin. They're cheap, but tasteful looking. They fit the body very similarly to C4 Corvette seats, in other words, snug on the thighs, with a little more room around the ribs. They're a bit snug in the thighs for big guys, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Hi JIM, Did you ever get a chance to let me know where I could find some info on those YONAKA seats..Thanks
I agree with the above.
RECARO!
We have them in two of our cars, and they are nice.
You can even find them in junk yards. Just look at VW Rabbits. Some of them have them, as BMWs too.
I found a set from a 1984 15th Anniversary Trans Am, and I installed them into a 1991 Firebird. Looks good, feels great.

Thanks for all the input, I didnt know that RECARO'S could be had like that, I know they are the best but thout like the cheapest ones were like over 800 bucks, and that is out of my range right now for sure with all the mechanical things im trying to get done first, but thanks for all the suggestions.
In the big cities, with lots of junk yards, getting Recaros out of other cars, still cost around $35.00 each!
You can use your exsiting seat brackets for the Recaros, and just bolt them up.
As for yet, I never had to redrill any new holes for them.
I talked some friends into getting them for their cars.
One friend even got a set, and installed them into a Ford Bronco!
They may have some tears in the material, but they are still Recaros!
Hope this helps,
George

The seats I have came out of a 15th Anniversary Trans Am.
They were unbolted already, and sitting in a '78 Esprit! I got the fronts and backs! I guess someone was hiding them! Their loss.
I have installed a set from a VW Rabbit into a third gen, and just had to use a round file to open the rear holes to fit the third gen bracket.
A friend of mine couldn't get a front set to fit his '86 Firebird. I spent just a few minutes pushing the rear bracket in (using a screwdriver), and got them to fit the Firebird Brackets in our '91 Firebird.
Maybe some brackets are bent somewhat? I don't know.
