Just how good is the ram air hood?

I'm going to buy a fiberglas ram air hood pretty soon. I've been looking at the one from fbodymotorparts and it looks so nice!

But just how good are they? do they operate good in high speeds?

There is a very long post on here somehwhere about how "Ram Air" is actually a myth for cars. In other words, there is not enough velocity on a car to produce a true "Ram Air" effect, of the type a RamJet jet engine would make.

But, the RA hoods do provide a cooler, denser charge of air to the combustion chambers, and so therefore will help modestly with power and perhaps fuel economy as well.

i have one , the ra2 , is it the larger one ? If so thats the one i have , its not perfect but ive seen worse . At about 90 it will start to move , so hood pins might come in handy , but im sure others have had theirs faster.

I have the ram air also and didn't notice any difference, except the fact you could hear the engine sucking in the air, slight whine. Look around, several places make that hood, FbodyMotorsports being one of the more expensive ones. I got mine off of RamAirHood.com . My hood also shakes around 90mph. I've gotten it up to 115(governed), and it's not that bad, don't notice it unless im actually paying attention to the hood.

I've currently have the ASCD RA1 hood and had the ASCD RA2 hood in the past.
Both were stable at up to 130mph.
I haven't set it up to feed directly from the nostrils yet so I can't say if it works any better than the stock induction, but I would imagine it should since there is a nice stream of cold air coming directly in.

Well, here's the thing.. There's a norwegian car who has the same hood as you Zepher. It's got a twin turbo 1400 hp engine and has done 358Km/h. so it has to be a bit stabile... I'm hoping to achieve 200mph's in mine with time. so the hood has to be stabile... I hate the look of hood pins, but maybe that's the only chanche I have keeping it stabile in high speeds.
The norwegian car also has hood pins.

I've seen that car and it's badass.
you can try using the flush hood pins, my friend has them all over his foxbody race car, holds the hood, fenders, bumpers on and makes it easy to remove.

this might be just me but i also have the RA2 style hood with it being functional the kit they sell with it. and without the k&n filter in it i have picked up a 1/10th or 2 i have done it a couple of times so its not like it was a one time deal also if i forget to put it back in i can notice a difference so i think it works a bit more than people might think. thats just what i have seen im not sure about anyone else.
