Carbon Fiber 3RD Gen

Carbon Fiber 3RD Gen

Probably gonna get yelled at for not searching enough but anyone ever layered some carbon fiber on their car? Not talking about buying $9000 carbon fiber replacement parts but just putting down a single layer over the stock body parts?

Fellow did that with his motorcycle parts and it looks just killer. He just wrapped everything in a single thin layer with a ton of clear for that deep wet look.

I know someone will cry foul that it no different then buying carbon fiber printed vinyl but it is **** cool looking. Even if it not 100% real, it is real on its own level.

if carbon fiber is your thing, I'd say go for it...it's cheap, and judging from the pics, you cant tell the difference (unless you felt it Im sure)

the whole reason to use carbon fiber is to lose weight. and by just pasting it on your car, you lose the original intent of carbon fiber.

Obviously his reason for using CF isn't to lose weight, now is it?

Good luck finding CF right now.......
It is a cool idea though. I plan on eventually making some of the interior parts out of fiberglass with the outmost layer in CF for the same effect

I keep hearing that but there are still plenty of deals on Ebay.

Of course CF is to lose weight but what is losing weight and spending $30,000 for new body parts goona do for a daily drive V6???

NOTHING.............

Wouldn't do much for a V8 either that a $30,000 drag motor could do.

Real CF burns was to quick for my taste. Anyone member the dale jr BBQ???
Took like 10 sec and his CF vette was a fireball. And if ya ask him, the only reason he got out was someone lifted him out. Though no one was there.
[Unless all real CF cars come with a guardian angle... Its not for me]

Yep it would be for looks only but without using some cheesy printed vinyl. Plus talk about a durable car finish, YIKES.........

Is the car a convertible? I think that might look pretty cool if you put it on there right.

No its a hard top but to fix my roof right it will cost near as much either way. Replace the whole top pannel, filler or glass it, carbon it. Carbon is almost cheaper wiith less work and stronger. Could be painted over it it became tacky.

Could use it like a giant race strip if the hood and hatch were done.
V6 or under usualy only have 1 strip.

No, that's not the WHOLE reason people use it. It's one of the many reasons people use it.

Well then I think it would look something like a vinyl top, and I personally don't like those at all.

More importantly, the roof is a VERY IMPORTANT structural piece in these cars. Keep that in mind.

im just more of a function over form kinda guy. and by adding the carbon fiber like that, youll weigh more if anything.

I found a place in America that is making a carbon fiber 82-92 Z28 hood, and they can carbon fiber wrap any part you want.
