paint question

Ok I sprayed my color on It is a 1 step acrylic paint, It came out with a lot of orange peel, My question. Do I color sand it or could I just spray a Clear coat and color sand the clear? Would that get rid of the orange peel, even though the 1st coat of paint also has orange peel? Would the 1st coat with orange peel show thru the clear? Or should I just resand and put another coat of paint on.

ORANGE YOU GLAD

If you clear coat over orange peel your clear
coat will follow all the orange peel you left in.
Therefore:
1. Make sure you painted it thick enuff before hand.
2. Sand the orange peel off.
3. Now, after sanding your paint will be smooth but dull.
4. Now you’re ready for clear coat.
.

How long has it been since you painted the car?
Is it a metallic color?
Did you use any hardener in the paint, when sprayed?
How many coats did you put on?

Help me with these questions, and I can better give you the answers.

Leon.

Yes it is metallic and I did use Hardener and it's been about 2 weeks since I painted it.
I have 3 coats of paint on it.

Well then, I'm afraid you CAN NOT wet sand and JUST spray clear on it.
You can't wet sand a metallic single stage paint, either to spray clear on it, OR buff it out, as you will streak the metaliic particles in the paint, and will look terrible.
I'm going to have to say, if it's that bad too where you have to sand orange peel down, just to get the paint flat and smooth, you're going to have to repaint the car.
No way around it, with the single stage metallic.
You could have gotten away with it, if it were a solid (non-metallic) color, or if it was clear coated in the first place.

Better luck next time, bud.
I wish I had better news for you.

Leon.
