best place to buy new body parts

I'm too heartbroken over my recent car accident to discuss the details right now. But... I need a new front bumper, a new hood, and a new driver's side fender. I tried checking out moderndaymuscle.com, but they do not have these parts for sale. What's the best source of NOS parts for a 1991 GTA?

Also, the support piece visible from under the hood, where the top of the front bumper bolts onto the rest of the car is also somewhat bent. What's this piece called, and where can I buy a new one?

I can't believe it.... I went from mint 50,000 mile 1991 GTA to broken birdy in a split second. I feel like I've lost my best friend.

Com.org - Only the best links ... isn't working for some reason. Is the URL spelt wrong?

How do you feel about aftermarket parts? I was really hoping to go NOS or used in VERY good condition.

Buy GM or good used from the JY. Aftermarket body panels are flat crap. They are cheaper sure. But you'll have lots of headaches that aren't worth the savings. GM panels fit better to start with, and the quality is also much better in regards to rust and corrosion resistance. Even used panels tend to be better than some of the aftermarket crash parts. We owned a dealership for years and had an on sight bodyshop. Many times the insurance companies will tell you that you must use aftermarket parts, and they were ALWAYS inferior to original parts. The metal is thinner and dents more easily, and you always lost your butt in labor trying to make them fit properly. For sheet metal, go original.

thanks Vaneat-91RS. It looks like my only option for new GM parts is the dealership. They want to charge me an arm and a leg on parts alone!

Thanks Frank! Does anyone have the part numbers for a core support, driver's side fender, and front bumper for a 1991 GTA?

I think I'll throw a fit when I see how much this costs

1987-1991 LH fender for TA & GTA GM Part# 12505345
GM list is $487.41 GM Parts Direct is $299.07

The Paddock has the GM bumper part# 10118416 w/o fog lights for $690.95 with fog lights part# 10198360 for 624.95 These are for 1991 & 1992 Trans Am/GTA

I couldn't find the bumper at:
GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts
but you can e-mail them asking for the part # & they usually get back to you within 24 hours.

Frank,

Thanks again for your help! Let me make sure I understand you correctly.

GM Parts Direct has the driver's side fender for my car. They do not, however, have the bumper, so I need to go to The Paddock.

What about the radiator core support and the hood?

I really appreciate it!

They may have the bumper, but I couldn't find it with the GM stock number that I had. Before you give up on them e-mail them, like I said before they have the cheapest prices for original GM parts. This is their e-mail:

Well it's been a month and a half and I still have no progress. I've been so busy with school and the Air Force that I haven't had time to worry about the car.

Overhaulin was on TV the other day. It is one of my favorite shows, but I couldn't watch it this time. I kept thinking about my GTA and how it needed to be fixed.

I was punching some numbers, and it looks like I may not be able to afford to replace all the parts with new ones. Is New GM way better than used GM?

Also, I probably need to replace the hood, fender, front bumper, and radiator support. Are there any of these parts that should DEFINATELY be replaced with new part? (i.e.- maybe fenders are something that frequently gets hit, so maybe I should only get a new fender, but a used hood is ok?)

Also, where would you reccomend I get used parts? I know House of Camaro sells them, but I haven't heard any feedback. Is anyone else better?

Thanks again, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

-Bill

House of Camaro is definately the place to get used Camaro parts. The only thing I would worry about with you is shipping. I'm not sure what his shipping rates are as I always go over there to pickup my parts, but I am sure they are reasonable. And the prices for the parts are reasonable too.

Did prices go up? Cuz in this thread, the fender was 1/2 the price of GM parts direct. WTF?
