Just put a Fiero GT wing on the back of the T/A. Not permanent yet, just moving it around for the best effect on the notchback. Thoughts?

with the notchback and everything, it's starting too look too much like a fiero, it's a nice attempt but I'd leave it off

Could you post a pic from the rear like in you first post, but a little higher? I'd like to see the whole hatch and spoiler. Looks pretty neat from those other pics.

 

I like the look alot, and the shape, but the whole look about that and the look of the stock ones on Trans Am, what I really really like about the factory wings is how they are longer and sort of hang over the sides of the car, A car's spoiler I like and have thought about swapping or seeing how it would look, Is a C4 corvette's spoiler, like the ones from the 80's, They have the same look of our and the fiero spoilers but a little bigger, And Im not a corvette specialist or anything, but Im pretty sure Ive seen sort of high rise versions of the corvettes too, which I think would look good, more racier and extreme but still stock and not overkill, but all of that are just thoughts from me when Im sitting in traffic and see one, any other thoughts on that? Overall though I like what your doing, and remember its your personal preference and if noone else likes it, forget about them, Its your car

 

I will finally have a Saturday off prior to a week of leave. I plan to finish sanding down the notchback getting a window installed and primer the whole notchback and the wing. I'll post a few more pics with a higher angle from the rear of the T/A. Thanks for all of the reviews.

I think it lloks nice. I've always wandered how would a notchback look with the Fiero GT wing. I like Fieros, so I think it looks nice.

i have the same thoughts as Poject '86. i put a lot of thought about doing that with my custom notchback, The GT fin i also seen the corvett one the think is it says corvett on the ends.

 

I have a Fiero GT Spoiler on my 82 Camaro notchback hatch

 

Cool some one else had the same idea. Guess I'm just not that original anymore. Dang!!

Anyhoo, last pictures before major sanding begins.

By the way, I called my local on-base automotive hobby shop and they won't even let me do minor body work. Looks like the EPA will totally kill our hobby before our kids even get to start. Chalk one up for the government.

The Fiero deck lid w/ spoiler has a different set of spring (heavier) to hold the lid open than the non-spoiler unit. Will the Camaro/Firebird system hold the extra weight in an open position? The Fiero spoiler looks a lot heavier than the Camaro unit......

 

The f-body hatch uses gas struts instead of springs. They come in a couple of 'strengths'... They're MUCH easier to replace than the Fiero decklid spring... I think the heaviest spoiler was on the GTA. It was solid plastic and is probably heavier than the hollow fiberglass Fiero wing.

I think it looks good. I like the Fiero wing. (I put one on my Fiero ).. FWIW, here is a shot of my Fiero wing and my GTA wing side by side. You can see there is a bit of similarity in the upsweep at the back.

 

Right, but the wing itself is superlight. Just a few ounces more that the stock wing I would guess. The GT wing is hollow and mounted on the pedestals as you can see in the pictures. I might be able to get a weight of them shortly.

The real heavy part is the Notchback itself. I won't be opening it much anyway. I thought fiberglass would be light, but the reverse is true in this case. I will have to get the super struts for the rear, the ones that list a wing and a wiper on the back. The strut end locations on the notchback are a real PITA also. Plates are located on the ends inside but not really cut correctly for the strut ends. More pics tomorrow to explain.

I think those spoilers looked good on the fieros, but im not really feeling it on the notchback. Post up some more pics though with it painted.
