Are messy weather strips costly?

I'm trying to fix up a car, adn teh wheather strips along the door are going every which way and frankly, look pretty ugly lfway stikcign of doors adn missign in some areas. Is it costly to get them replaced? I see the strips aren't TOO bad, ubt does anyone have any reccomendations on where I should buy the strips, or where's a site that can explain how to install them? Thanks!

263 for the whole kit. they have peices but if you can spare the cash go ahead and do them all. You might wanna try sofseal. but like every product i hear both good and bad things about any of them. best bet might be to check out a local car show and talk to the people that have used the diffrent brands. That way you can get a real life look at the quality and fit they have

haha, ok, I'll look around and ask. Does anyone know if the installation would be easy at all? Or what all I'd need besides the strips? Thanks again

Softseal sux ***. They will work for now but will not last as long as GM stuff. I used sofseal on my car a while back. It was really hard to get it to stay put. Maybe their molds have gotten better. But about 5 years ago it suxed.

For the top window part I would never get softeal. I am getting my car's body work done, about 4 grand in work.

I went with softseal around the doors and GM around the windows. The GM stuff is just too damn expansive for around the doors. I am hoping the body shop has some tricks up their sleave to get that damn softseal to sit right.

GM strips have a backbone in them, softseal doesn't. just has pins with little T saped barbs sitting in the rubber.

If I had the $ or time, I would have saved a little longer and gotten all GM.

well, the main sealing problems are the doors, and that's abotu it. It's not even so bad, as it is ugly, such as when I open the door, the strip comes tumbling down. So softseal works , but s just harder than everything else to install?

No, all in all. You can still do it in about 15 minutes with a screwdriver. If you know what you are doing. If you have no clue, give yourself 3 times that. haha. Not a hard job at all.

haha ok gotcha. I'm smart kid, so I think i can get it... I just haven't messed w/ weather strips yet. I just don't have the car in sight right now, and won't for a few more days, so was mainly concerned at the possible prices. But you're right, if it seems too bad, I'll just buy some GM strips and use those instead.
