would a fiberglass lift off weigh significantly less than a bolt on fiberglass hood. please take in to account the hinges and latch. right now it is a tuff decision what hood i want.

If you drive your car a lot, or live someplace where the temp changes a lot, get a bolt on hood. Lift off hoods are for racers, not for the street. I garontee you, there is a good reason why they call it a race part. Its cuz it isn't made to take the abuse of the street. They are really thin, and prone to have the paint on them crack. The hinges wiegh maybe 2 lbs and the other crap is like maybe a few ounces, haha. There is no weight to save there at all. Just pay the extra $ and get a real hood, not a race hood. The difference is maybe 5-10 lbs at the most anyways, IF THAT....

GET A BOLT ON HOOD

the diff depends on the builder and model, but total diff is anywhere from 3 to 7 pounds. this depends more on how the hood is constructed more then the weight of the hood latch and hinges...

alot of the super lightweight pinons are not a good idea for the street..
if your car sees regular street usage at all, id reccomend a bolt on.

i was planing on a bolt on but if there would have been a 30# weight saving i might have went pin on. i don't drive it too much it might get 1000 miles a year.

wow, only 1000 miles a year, than yeah, do whatever you want. That is practically nothing. If it is parked like that all the time, then get a pin on and save the $. If $ is not that big of an issue, (you do have a car that you barely drive) so I assume it isn't that tight, you might as well do it the right way and get a (streetable) bolt on hood.

My Cervini 3" is a bolt on and is very well constructed.

i have a harwood lift off and its super light!!! i drive about 1000 miles a year also and haven't had a problem. my biggest bitch is removing the hood to change oil check fluids but the great part is if you work under the hood alot you pull 4 pins and its off and you dont need to realign the hood when your done.

my fiberglass bolt on hood weighs ~35lbs, and the lift off hoods weigh around 20lbs, i wouldn't say that the 15lbs is worth the hassle, and i've had both.

i doubt my lift off even weighs 10 pounds honestly. it's super super light, maybe i'll put it on a scale someday, very thin and no bracing....yea it's light.
