Corvette Hatch Mod
Corvette Hatch Mod
Has anybody here completed a Corvette hatch mod? This is instead of the whole hatch opening, just the glass opens and lifts. Is there anybody out there that has access or availability of a older C4 Vette to take some measurements? I've been thinking of fabbing something up but would like to get alittle more insight before I jump the gun.

Cool thank you. Could you measure from roof to spoiler, the length at the top, the length at the bottom, and the length at the widest spot on the glass, hey I'll even take some pictures if you could get some. Thanks man I appreciate it.

Regardless of what glass/hatch is used... keep in mind that locking down the hatch deck will render (nearly) useless your spare storage, the already useless compartment on the drivers side and the hatch well mostly. Also, the rear trim would have to be modified.removed in the event you want to access your rear lamps.
Neat idea, not very practical beyond aesthetic appearance (IMO).

1) Useless storage area
2) Locked down hatch
3) Impossible to remove tail lamps! (no joke on this one)
It can be done, but it would suck ***

A lot of metal work, welding, a latch assembly, carefully drilling out and reshaping the window, some modified weatherstrip, and a little bit of bondo and it can be pulled off.

And deadbird, it all depends on the thought and work put into it. With the right thinking and work done it may be able to open up like a truck's rear. Turn the key one way to pop just the glass turn it the other to open the hatch. I'm not saying it would most definately work, but it's an idea spinning up in the air.
