Mix and Match GTA?

I have an 88 GTA 5 Speed that I am working on. It has 140k on it.
I am partial to the 84 Trans AM, I am considering changing the rear spoiler, fenders and hood to the 84 style.
What do you think?

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

Yeah, it is your car and most people on the forum wont like it. It is all about personal preferance though. You bought the car and you can do what ever you want with it.

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

It was a fairly rare car to start with 1 in 800, part of me says take it back to original, the other part of me says build it how i want.

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

I'd leave the GTA alone and look for an 84 shell. I'm a bit partial though.

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

You can always keep the bumpers and ground effects so if you ever do decide to revert to original then itll be a snap

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

Fenders? You'd need 85-90 trans am(not gta) fenders if you want fender vents and you want the 85-90 ground effects.

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

It's your car, but personally I could never tear apart a perfectly fine GTA to put older gfx on it

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

Do these steps.

1. Step away from the GTA.

2. Sell GTA to someone that will take care of it.

3. Use money from GTA to buy 84 TA.

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

It's your car do, do what YOU want!

I myself swapped 82-84 Firebird bumper covers onto my 90 Formula, because I liked the style better.

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

It's all about your personal taste, If you like the 84 style go ahead and do it!

I took my 88 bird and made it look inside and out like a 82 TA, and I'm adding the engine to go with it, it's all about what you like, and what amount of effort you are willing to commit to it.

Re: Mix and Match GTA?

I like the GTA ground effects and the car. Just was thinking of mixing and matching.
I never undstood why they didn't put the vent fenders on the gta's.
The spoiler has always been been a pain, peeling etc..
The hood needs something. Everyone is putting the Ram Air hoods on.
