91 RS v6.. My first car back in 1997. Had some fun times in that car back then...

 

Got mine My freshman year about 3 weeks after school got out. bought her as is no motor only the muncie was in it, and all summer work on her everyday.was my aunts about 6 years ago but she trade it for 89 silverado, so i wanted this car since i was 6 years old. finally had my chance ..about 3 months and 800 bucks later she was running. drove her first day sophomore year... Roosted those tires after school.. i felt like the school bad *** didn't last long in mid October that year interior was destroyed by the fire from the blower motor fan.. that sophomore summer rebuilt the interior of the car all summer.. Got her back to running drive her every Friday around town... Will have an album soon

Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread, but I cannot figure out how to start a new thread!

I got some bad news today and I wanted feedback from the guys in this forum. I have a 1992 Z28 and my frame has cracked (again) around the steering box. The cracking is pretty bad. I drove my car to a local welder who looked at the crack and said there was really nothing he could do. I've already had this crack repaired years ago and it has occurred again. I believe the last time the car was repairedthe guy had to weld in another section of frame. Way expensive!! I am unsure how to post pics but I would like to if someone can help me out.

Feedback welcomed. Way too late for a "wonderbar" at this point.

im currently a sophomore and i got my 86 at the end of my freshman year before i had a license me and my dad worked on it all summer basically doing a mechanical resto, rebuilt the top end of the 305 did all of the brakes and all that stuff, it just got on the road for the first time today, im hoping to drive it to school on monday cant wait!

 

Yup. In my senior year, I bought a new, 1986 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z. Black w/Gold lettering. Tan interior. T-Tops. 305 TPI. Auto. My good friend had an '85 Maroon T/A with a 305, Auto. He STILL has it.

Had a lot of fun with that car. Now that my son and I have this '89 Formula, I can't figure out how me and my girlfriend fit in the back seat. LOL.

 

Actually, I got it when I was in Jr. High...

... but I just recently finished it.

Well, "finished". Needs paint, and I've still plans.

I have done so much to this car
engine was totally rebuilt got original iroc rims
and a lot of little things.
Being painted right now 1988 Gray.

 

My first Camaro I got during high school, 1987 Dark Red Metallic Iroc-Z Hardtop 5.0 Carbureted. Sold it 3 months later for 3x what I paid for it. But regretted it because I loved that car

 

Worked and saved up enough for my 92 RS summer of 08 before my junior year. I was naive and thought it was awesome because of the flowmasters that had been put on by the PO to cover up the mess of problems it had. That car kept me safe through two two accidents from being a stupid kid and kept my girlfriend safe in another. 240k on the original engine and still runs decent. She's takin a beating, but with my 6 month co-op coming up in June she is going to get pampered and rebuilt from the ground up. There's just something about that car..

 

Yeah, I'm in 10th grade and just turned 16 on the 26th of November this year, I came home from the movies and went out in to the garage to talk to my Dad and when i opened the garage door a white '91 RS project car was there to greet me. Best day ever!

1982's came out my freshman year. Third gens were way out of my price range back then, so I got a 1964 Chevy Impala and fixed up up. Strange that now, 1964 Impala's are out of my price range and I can buy third gens all day long LOL!

Yes sir! I'm still in high school in fact! A senior this year. :P I got my 1992 Camaro RS June 3rd, 2011. about 21 days before my 16th birthday. It was easily one of the best days of my life, and wow has she come far since then. I love my baby! I have done ALL of the work on it by myself including (chronological order) :wheel cylinders and brake shoes, water pump replacement, intake manifold gasket replacement, brake pads and new calipers, flowmaster series 80 stainless muffler, new starter, struts, alternator replacement, sway bar links, and repacked wheel bearing. Still have to put in the new door hinge pin and bushing on the drivers side, but thats no big deal.

 

I'm 17 and a junior in High School with a Black 1991 Firebird. Paid $3,000 for and and slowly building er up!

Yes sir! Everything is Stock besides the Tint and wheels, (that you can see in the picture).

 

Currently a junior. Was borrowing my dads 2.3 5speed ranger, but then got my formula the very end of sophmore year. $2600 from my sisters boyfriend. Parents said they would buy it but everything else is on me. Best gift ive ever gotten. Dont think ill ever get rid of it. Great car to learn to work on in my opinion. New enough to still be in decent shape, but old enough to not be a confusing mass of computer wires and plastic.

 

Yeah, makes me feel old also. The year I FINISHED high school, the 1961 Impala was new.

 

YES SIR,,,Had a 1985 IROC in my senior year of high school,,1985. Too young and stupid to realize what I had at the time but it was the first of well over a dozen 3rd Gens since. Still have one. 1989 20th Anny TTA and she's a Festival Car. The 80's were good to me and love the hard rock music and the cars from that era. I'll always have a 3rd gen mainly due to all the memories and wonderful times I had in the beautiful cars.

 

Sure did. Back in 1997 when I was a junior in HS my first car was a 1986 Firebird. I got it before I even had my license. It belonged to a science teacher at the school and he was the original owner. I kept if for about a year before a kid I went to school with told me about this awesome Trans Am for sale by him that he was going to buy. That awesome Trans Am was a 1988 Gun Metal Metallic GTA which became my second thirdgen. Boy was that kid pissed...sorry Pete. I kept that car until I graduated. Good times!

 

Got my first ever car the summer before junior year, it's a 1991 camaro RS. I still and always will have it i owned the only older model camaro and only third gen at the school. Im a senior still getting a few credits because i missed too many days freshman year, but i still have the car

 

My first car was a 3rd Gen 83 Camaro and my second car was a 86 TA both I had in HS

 

Bought mine about a month before i graduated. Always wanted one but the parents weren't on board. So i sold my blacked out, 2001 9c1 impala for 4800, (bought it for 3200 at police auction) and within a couple weeks i came home in my 86 Z28. Mom wasn't impressed but dad understood. I drove about 2hrs to Minneapolis "just to look" ended up driving back home for the cash, and back to buy the car and then back home barely in time for baseball practice. oh yea, we were in a clapped out 2000 ford taurus wagon too. the guys loved it

 

Man, I had responded to this back in 10/09. I know where you are coming from. Sophomore year for me, it was 1981-82 the introduction of the 3rd gen Camaros. I got a 1972 Camaro RS in October 1983 my senior year. Stock 350 with just headers, stock TH350 and open 2.73 10-bolt diff. It ran 15.00 in the quarter. Paid $2000 for the 72.

 

I bought my 92 RS LO3 T5 t-top from my 23yr old cousin when I was 15 (Oct1999). The camaro wasn't functional with his new job so he sold it to me for what they offered for trade in. I didn't hold up very well to the other muscle cars but that's ok considering the crowd consisted of a 96z28, 66 454ss chevelle, 70 Monte drag car, and a about 80 cutlass with a 400 stock car engine. Other than those guys I was proud of what my camaro could handle. Lots of good times cruising in that car. Had a COMPLETE aftermarket stereo in it too. Q logic kick panels and all! At one point I picked up an 89 iroc 5.7tpi with t-tops and the 9bolt rear for $800 cause it was crashed in the rear. The left rear corner was where the back seat should be. I wanted to swap the motor and rear discs into my 92 but didn't have the skills or money so I resold it.

On April 7th '02, right before I graduated I bought a 99 v6 black with t-tops and the payment plus insurance caused me to have to store the 92 for a couple years but now we are getting beyond high school. I still have the 92, have learned how to work on cars, and do everything within my budget to give the 92 (and my 69) the royal treatment.

It's good to be able to do your own work and have the place to store them to keep them looking good. It's also nice to have one to be able to drive all the time too. I had a 67 Camaro for a DD from 1987 till 1993 or 94 and it was a fun car to drive even with the I6.

My senior year of Highschool I sold my 4wheel drive nissan pickup to buy my 87 z28, alot of people made fun of me because the first month I got it I broke down like 3 times. We didn't get off to a good start but I absolutely love my car now and it's been almost 3 years since I graduated. I actually just bought a formula firebird recently.

Also, about a grand to 1500 if it runs and is straight.

Paint would do it wonders; rarity of Berlinetta's doesn't really matter at this point in time.

If you're a guy looking for a car, you don't care that it's a Berlinetta with T Tops.

In fact, you'd probably not want it for being a Berlinetta.

 

Oh, I'm sorry, you were asking for rarity; I thought you were some dude asking for a price quote, which gets old. That's a good question, though.

 

I'm 16 now and heres my 1988 Firebird Formula

 

Heres mine. Got it at the end of 7th grade stared at it every day until I was 16. Got the car with 96k on it has the 305 tpi, auto, 3:23's and i put MAC exhaust and headers and a 150 shot of nitrous on it Probably the fastest car in the parking lot right now, only competition is a g35, and a boxster.

I remember back in the day in 86 I had one of these and other guys had GTOs, chevelles novas etc.. all ratted out. our thirdgens are normally like that... some are nice, some not so nice since they are just cheap used cars with guts. that will change in 10-20 years.. just watch.

 

Havent been to the track yet, Im planning to head out there first day it opens and get some times

Married 24 yrs - 2 kids, finally got my latest 3rd gen ... 89 GTA.

 

Sophomore (this) year got mine. Someone set it up as a drag car (engine, tranny, suspension) before I got it. Not a "safe" combo (but a really fun one) for a high schooler . Lucky lucky she hasn't gotten a single mark since I bought her. Guy before me drover her through a barbed wire fence and scratched the paint and dented the quarter panels in some places. Hopefully this summer I can get some paint on it and fix those nasty gashes.

 

My uncle sold me his 89 iroc z.
Car had built motor with dart heads and intake,mechanical tappet cam, headers, th350 and built rear end. moser 12bolt. Still have that rear end. Its goin in my 91 rs
That car flat out hauled ***!
My uncle built, he owned a speed shop which steadily over the years became a diesel shop. Since diesel repair and pm. alot more steady diesel work. I got it at 15.
Car ran on premium which was 98¢ at the time. 20$ bought u bunch of gas back then.
I learned to drive at 13. At 16 i learned to move semi around the shop.

So then I got that written off and got paid $2400 for it (which is awesome because I only paid $1100 for it and it was a bass model v6 ) and bought this 89 GTA for $2800 about 2 weeks later
