Re: fastest way to empty the gas tank

go buy 4 feet of hose and shove it down the filler neck, or hotwire the pump until the gas guage almost reads completely empty and just fill it back up

Hmm, or you could do it mythbusters style and shoot some tracer rounds at it

That's not true at all. Unless the hole was a few inches in diameter then a pump would empty it much quicker.

Re: fastest way to empty the gas tank

If you disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter, most of the gas will drain out. You can also disconnect the return line, which may be easier, and most of the gas will also come out. Drain it into a can. That is how I drained the gas when when I pulled the gas tank. Be careful if the lines are rusty-I ended up having to buy new metal lines because of the corrosion. When I tried to disconnect the lines at the fuel filter, the nut was siezed to the tubing and tubing tore when I turned the nut.

Re: fastest way to empty the gas tank

ive tried sticking a hose down into my gas tank but it gets to a certain point and always gets stuck and won't reach the tank.. i was using fairly thin tubing too, so i dunno how well that will work for you..i kno i have yet to be able to siphon anything at all outta my tank

Re: fastest way to empty the gas tank

I used a cheap electric fuel pump and mounted ot to a 2x6x 12 inches long and used about 6 feet of hose and pumped it out that way. I also used a short piece of steel line on the end of the rubber hose so it will out a little more weight on the hose and so I can tell when it hits the bottom of the tank.
