what do you guys think about this?

my wing was broken on the back(shown in pic) so i fixed it with some bondo and thought about molding the wing right on to the back so there was no more seam ( i plane on drag racing the car so i figured it was a little more aro-dynamic haha) so i said what the hell and did it what do you guys think of the idea?

its not finished yet but its getting there (pics were taken before i sanded)

I'm thinking the first big bump or first time you slam the hatch there will be a huge crack at the seam.

Re: what do you guys think about this?

looks good, i plan on doing the same and extending my spoiler kind of like the hawks 5" spoiler. if you plan on drag racing that might help you out and look really good on there. just food for thought!

Re: what do you guys think about this?

Bondo WILL NOT HOLD. You CAN NOT use bondo to fill holes or gaps. No body filler is formulated to be put on more then 1/16 of an inch thick. If you wanna do it right grind out ALL of the bondo and scuff the wing and decklid up VERY good with some 60 grit and use fiberglass to attach it and fill in the holes. Fiberglass reinforced body filler MIGHT work but i wouldnt trust it. Just fiberglass it to the decklid and take your time.

No, bondo is not DESIGNED to hold. I've bondoed my friends beaters in ways it was never designed for and it held up great for years. I agree it's not the right way, but it doesn't necessarily mean it won't last if some care is taken.

Re: what do you guys think about this?

i was also thinking what if i layered another coat of glass ontop of the bondo then a very thin coat of bondo would that make it stronger?

Re: what do you guys think about this?

All im saying is that in my three years of experience working body shops in my OPINION body filler will not hold. Your right in some cases it may hold up for years but on a hatch that is slamed closed multiple times and also bonding fiberglass(which will not shrink or expand with heat and cold) and metal(which will shrink and expand with heat and cold) that body filler wont work. Maybe as a bandaid but not as a long term fix. So i would rather spend $5 more in materials and a extra hour to do it right with fiberglass or even better Panel adhesive.
