You need to use a scraper(like the kind they use to remove inspection stickers)It's pretty much a razorblade with a handle on it. Also put some soap and water on it while scraping it.

Blowdryer helps too to warm it up a bit. Any glue lft can be cleaned with acetone (don't use oil based cleaners if you are having them re-tinted).

You will still need to clean with something that evaprates completely before re-tinting (ie acetone).

Mineral Spirits is also good, but that and Laquer Thinner will leave an oil residue.

I don't think mineral spirits would work well.
to the best of my knowledge lacquer thinner is very fast evaporating and is aggressive enough to loosen old nasty tint.
I know that lacquer retarder would probably work the same as mineral spirits and leave an oily residue behind, but not lacquer thinner. It evaporates as fast as acetone does.
anyways,I would suggest picking up some fast dry lacquer thinner or acetone or even some MEK and wipe the tint down with a rag saturated well, the tint should then peel off easy. Then go back with a clean rag also saturated well and wipe it all again and should be clean as can be.

Re: Cheap A$$ window tint?

actually, being an ex tinter i always used some black trash bags, wet the window down with cheap ammonia and just stick the trash bags on from the inside and let sit in the sun for an hour or two and it should peel off very easily, if you do have some stubborn spots scrape with a razor blade, but once you start with a razor blade only use the side you started with otherwise it will scratch the glass. then use some rubbing alcohol and a white scotchbrite pad to clean any excess glue left behind.

Re: Cheap A$$ window tint?

The above method is what I hear a lot of people doing with a lot of success. also if there's any left over residue try using adhesive remover. It's meant just for that.
