Re: Pros and Cons of the camaro Ram Air II hood?

Its all about preference and what YOU like. I dont think the hood offers any real advantage over the next. Just a visual upgrade man. You can Google 3rd gen camaro and Ram Air hood an find some pics. Ive looked before and i know theres a few out there. Also, Have you seen the CERVINI Ram Air version hood?? Looks alot better IMHO. Heres the link... https://www.cervinis.com/search.aspx...body=Hatchback

thanks for the reply, ive seen that hood but i just dont like how winde and flat it is. It just doesn't really fit the car IMO but i like how the RAII hood would stand out in a croud. Always wondered what i would look like from the insde though. I havn't found a pic of that yet. -Matt

By (from the inside) you mean from the inside of the car looking through the windshield?

I have the raII hood on my car,not a camaro though and have no complaints with anything.

Re: Pros and Cons of the camaro Ram Air II hood?

Well,not too many compliments yet.
This car hasn't seen the road in over three years.I've been building it for two of those three years.
If you search (wetsanding/buffing made easy)you can see a few pics of the exterior the way it looks now other than the headlight buckets that I have installed since then.Still working on getting the car all back together.

Re: Pros and Cons of the camaro Ram Air II hood?

Pros:
You get ram air induction if you actually cut out the holes in the front and buy the air box to connect to your trottle body.

Cons:
1. Cost; about $500 + shipping and then still you have to paint it.
2. It looks butt ugly on anything other than a Firebird, and even then it doesn't even look that good (Just my opinion. Ram Air I is much nicer looking)
3. Fitment; I've seen quite a few threads on here about poor fitment of fiberglass hoods and how much work is required to get them to look/fit right.

Your car seems to look perfect as it sits. I don't think it needs anything to make it look better.

Re: Pros and Cons of the camaro Ram Air II hood?

Pros: Lighter then steel hood... Looks cool...

Cons: Very expensive... Not as durable as steel hood... Needs lots of work to make it fit right and then it still won't be perfect... I've done a lot of looking around and the ram air box doesn't help performance until you reach speeds of about 150mph...

I just had my paint and body work done. I went with a 5 inch spoiler and had fitment problems with that... I can't even imagine with a new hood...

I don't know about that.(ramair box doesn't help perf. until ya reach 150mph?)
I have done more than 1 ramair conversion on other cars and noticed a difference even with daily driver cars from off idle.
I guess it depends on the aerodynamics of the veh. in ? .
I would believe that theory for the rear spoiler, but not the ramair box

I have to agree with Mike_c they just don't look good on Camaros. You can get functional air ram in other hoods

Thanks for the response and complement.

Charged350- Awesome camaro, hood looks killer.

When it comes to paint im not sure when i am going to paint my car. As of now im going to do a conversion from 85-90 ground effects to 91-92 ground effects. Thats priority than after that the hood. I wanted a steel cowl hood from 2-3 inches but every one i have see doesn't have that curve at the windshield so i decided aginst a steel. Ive looked at the cervini cowl but its $500+ harwood i have heard horror stories from... What would be a good idea for me. I thought about the ss hood but lots of ppl have them and at one time i didn't want 91-92 ground fx but the hood fit better with those kits than the pre 1990. If there are other hood ideas out there other than the cowl and ram air... let me know. I dont like the jongblowed hood or the big block hood. but give me some ideas. thanks -Matt

Re: Pros and Cons of the camaro Ram Air II hood?

been lookin around and have seen a few camaros with the big block hood... doesn't look bad but has anyone ever heard of cutting out the opening so it doesn't just look like a fake scoop. Also if anyone has other pics please post. best part it looks good and is cheaper!
