Would a Z28 hood go with the look of my car?
I'm looking for some opinions. I made a thread a while ago about getting an SS hood, but I decided that would be too "loud" for the look of my car, not to mention it cost a lot of money. Now I'm thinking about getting a Z28 hood with the blisters. I always wanted a Z28 hood, but I'm just not sure if it will go well with the look I have now. I'm just thinking about this now because if I'm going to do it, now is the time since I have to get a hood and bumper painted from getting backed into. Here's a picture of my car before the damage:

Maybe...black blisters, to match the clacked out headlight pockets, black centers rims, etc.
I think it could pull that off nicely!

Re: Would a Z28 hood go with the look of my car?
Is your car an actual Z28? I can't quite make out the badge on the ground effects, but it looks too long to say RS. If it's a real Z28, then you might as well put the right hood on it, whether you paint the blisters black or not.
I don't know if this would work for you or not since you said someone backed into your car, but another option for you might be to see if you can find just the blisters themselves and mount them on the hood you have now. They aren't functional, and I believe they just sat on top of the hood. It would cost you a lot less than a whole hood. You should be able to find them on Ebay pretty easily I would think. The other benefit there is that you can get them, set them on the hood and see if you really do like it. If not, then you can always resell them. You could also do this at a later point because the blisters could be painted separately from the hood, and that would be a lot cheaper than buying a hood and having it painted.
For what it's worth, I agree with Stephen. If your gonna put the on, paint the hood red to match the car, and the blisters black. Just me, but I'd also have them paint the inside of the "scoops" on the ground effects black as well. Although, personally, for the hood I always liked the look of the louvers over the blisters. Just my

Not that you asked, but DON'T think a black spoiler will fit in, with the blacked out theme.
As 92RS_Ttop said...Black ground FX pockets (with a fade forward into the red) will look good with the headlight pockets.

Personally I'd leave it as is. I've seen red with black blisters and didn't like it at all. I'm not really a fan of the blisters anyway but for some reason they blend in better with the 91-92 wing vs the regular spoiler.

You "always wanted a Z28 hood," and "now is the time."
So I think that settles the issue, don't you?
But I'd suggest not adding any black accents. Keep everything simple, clean and red, just like it is now.

I think your car looks good the way it is now. There just seems to be a certain line to it that seems to flow smoothly. But, a z-28 hood would look nice especially if you blacked out the louvers. Honestly i think you should keep the regular hood. But thats just me.

Re: Would a Z28 hood go with the look of my car?
If I do this, I'll be keeping the blisters red with the car.
When I said I've been wanting the Z28 hood, that was before car looked like it does now. I haven't really thought about it in a while though, but I have an oppurtunity to do it and I found a hood local with good blisters (although the hood itself has a small dent). Without actually seeing the hood on my car I'm not sure if it will mess up the super clean look or not, which is why I'm asking. I saw some pictures of Gunny Highway's car, and he has a Z28 hood with the RS spoiler. I thought it looked really good, but he has only posted 2 or 3 pictures of his car.

I think the stock flat hood looks good on your car. But if you decide otherwise, there are aftermarket '91- '92 blisters that bolt to a flat hood, as someone mentioned earlier. Black blisters would look silly though.

Get the SS hood, and when you get the car painted have the blackout headlight area painted body color.
I think it would look good with the ss hood(has the small opening dead center of the scoop in black) I can visualize it with the black grill/foglight center piece and goes well with the rest of the car like the wheels, door handles, and all the trim around the car.
And the z-28 blister hood can end up costing the same amount in the end.
oh yeah, have the nose emblem deleted also.

I like the way it looks with the flat hood.
An earlier IROC Z28 hood would look good too

Well, I guess I'll pass on the hood. It's just it was $200 and I thought that was a smokin' deal for the blisters and a hood. I think I'll just spend the money on new tint.

If you're car was hit in the front so bad it damaged your hood, tint isn't going to help.
just curious. Got any pics of after damage?
