1986 IROC Overhang
1986 IROC Overhang
Ok, anyone have a 1986 IROC?????
I need the measurement from the front spindles to the tip of the nose. It
is my understanding that IROC were only made from 1985-1990 and are
drastically different for an RS made between 1982-1992 or Z28 made before of after 1985-1990. I believe a Z28 made during 1985-1990 measure the same as an IROC.

I see you own an IROC. Can you measure the overhang for me. The distance from the center of the spindle to the tip of the nose on both sides. I used a piece of square tube off the nose. a broom handle would work too.
I can tell you that the overall length of an RS and and IROC very 192" to 187".

Yea they vary that much if one is smashed in the front. All thirdgens have the same wheel base and are the same overall length. There is no difference length wise between an rs and iroc. The difference came in the sway bars, shock/struts,ect...

Re: 1986 IROC Overhang
Too cold out to mess with my car. However, the following is from an MVMA Specifications Form (Z28 and IROC):
Overhang Front (the dimension from the centerline of the front wheels to the foremost point on the vehicle), 46.4
FYI, my 85 Camaro brochure booket shows the sport coupe and Berlinetta at 188, the Z28 at 192. I have no experience in the matter, but it seems reasonable to suggest that the difference is in ground effects.

Thanks, that helps a real lot! Not to cold here today around 60 degrees. I agree with you on the ground effect difference. Any chance you can send me a link to the spec or post the page it is on. This would make my life much easier if challenged at a race.
