Is it common that the outer skin of the door on 3rd gens to come apart? Mine has started to come off a bit in the corner. Anyone else having this problem, if so is there another fix besides replacing door.

clean it really well. Then epoxy it together. Make sure to seal it so that it does not rust. A picture would be a big help though

Iether get a welder and do some sheet metal work. Or you can order a door skin from year one and weld on a small peice on your "inner" door part. Also call your local junk yards becuase doors are cheap i bet you could find one for like 50 bones
