Hatchback alignment

I recently purchased a 92 v6 t-top and the hatchback isnt ligned up correctly. At the top near the hinges the gap is big anough to fit my finger in and at the spoiler it sticks out about a half inch. Is there an adjustment of some sort to line this up correctly?

Re: Hatchback alignment

There is a gap at the top that's pretty big, like you said about finger wide. Check the glass on the sides and see if it's even on both. The metal "decklid" is very adjustable. That's what is probably out. You can losen the nuts towards the glass and will be able to move that around on the glass. Should be able to push it up. Is the metal lid even on the sides?. You can also adjust the hinges too, but first check to see if someone messed with the metal lid first.

Re: Hatchback alignment

Yeah the decklid with the spoiler on it is sticking way out, but the glass on the sides is perfectly even......

Re: Hatchback alignment

You know, after posting, I looked at my car and sure enough the deck lid is sticking out past the end of the car about 1/4" or alittle more!!! I wonder if that is normal??? Kind of makes me think Know you got me thinking about pushing it in.

Re: Hatchback alignment

dont raise the hatch like the article says, thats busted glass waiting to happen. i removed my struts, dropped my hatch motor because the adj will move it from the set postion and cause the hatch case to bust if it isnt resting right and i loosend the bolts at the interior of the car.
then i left the hatch down and it scooted around to where i wanted it and then i cenched the nuts back down.
after i re adj my hatch pull down and all is good. i also did this myself without help.

Re: Hatchback alignment

ive got a thread out there on this subject as well

i went through all this on my 82 last fall

i swapped my glass and reattached my original spoiler deck

it was out of aligment pretty badly like yours was

now its perfect

i alifgned the glass straight first and then set the deck on with the urethane and aligned it and bolted it tight and thats it

never seen one that wasnt aligned right

not from factory
